    Description

    Day One is seeking a motivated and community-oriented Community Resilience and Engagement Assistant to support both the Community Resilience Coordinator and the Community Engagement Coordinator. This candidate will assist in the implementation of the Displacement Avoidance Plan and the Community Engagement Plan under the Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) grant. This role involves extensive community outreach, coordination of engagement activities, support for small businesses, and administrative tasks. Fluency in Spanish and knowledge of Pomona is preferred. The position requires availability for weekend and evening work as needed.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Support Comprehensive Displacement Prevention and Tenant Rights Outreach:
      • Assist in organizing and conducting community workshops and informational sessions on tenant rights.
      • Help develop and distribute educational materials to prevent displacement.
      • Provide administrative support for tenant outreach initiatives.
    2. Assist with Economic Empowerment and Asset Building Programs:
      • Coordinate and support financial literacy workshops and asset-building initiatives for low-income residents.
      • Help manage participant data and track program outcomes.
      • Assist in developing resources and materials for economic empowerment programs.
    3. Support Small Business Alliance and Development Programs:
      • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a Small Business Alliance.
      • Coordinate consulting and training programs for small businesses.
      • Provide logistical support for small business events and meetings.
    4. Community Engagement Activities:
      • Assist in planning and executing community meetings, workshops, and events.
      • Help with the development and dissemination of communication materials.
    5. Social Media and Communication:
      • Assist in managing social media platforms to engage the community and promote TCC initiatives.
      • Create and curate content for social media posts and campaigns.
      • Monitor social media engagement and report on metrics.
    6. Grant Administration and Indicator Tracking:
      • Provide administrative support for grant management, including tracking key performance indicators and project milestones and assist in preparing progress reports

    Non-Traditional Work Hours

    This position requires working non-traditional hours that may require early mornings, evenings and weekends in order to accommodate youth and family schedules, school district meetings, city council meetings, community events/meetings, and any other convenings that support the completion of project and organizational goals.

    Working Conditions

    • Works both indoor and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
    • Physical effort Lift and/or Transport equipment up to 50 pounds or more
    • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, walking
    • May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
    • Working conditions and physical demands which relate to the essential functions of the position can vary and change on a daily basis.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in supporting community-based programs.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
