    About Wholesome Wave

Wholesome Wave is a national non-profit addressing nutrition insecurity by making healthy produce available and affordable for the people who need it most. We work with food retailers, farmer’s markets, health centers, healthcare systems, and grassroots community-based partners to ensure that poverty is not a barrier to choosing fruits and vegetables. Wholesome Wave was co-founded in 2007 by Chef Michel Nischan and the late Gus Schumacher. Together, they built a nutrition incentive movement that resulted in $250M in federal funding to help low-income families double their SNAP benefits for fruits and vegetables.

Wholesome Wave has a 17-year history of innovating programs that increase affordability and access to healthier foods to address health disparities in low income rural, urban, and tribal communities. • Lead grant-writing and proposal development in collaboration with program leaders.
    • Collaborate with the entire team to align revenue targets with the resources necessary to advance our mission. This includes working with OK Kitchen Managers across the country to support the resources of those chapters.

    Marketing and Brand Management:

    • Develop and lead the organization through a comprehensive national marketing strategy that bolsters and expands the organization’s revenue model.
    • Build and manage the marketing budget, ensuring our messaging accurately and persuasively reflects the impact of our work, and that our marketing assets reflect accordingly.
    • Develop and lead quality control protocol for brand consistency across platforms.
    • Craft campaigns that drive engagement among our community of supporters.

    Leadership and Collaboration:

    • Analyze investments and present the ideal holistic budgetary allotment for fundraising activities to the Board of Directors.
    • Present revenue reports at quarterly Board meetings.
    • Invest your experiences and skills into mentoring our small but mighty team.
    • Provide strategic insight on philanthropic trends and fundraising best practices to the entire team.

    • A strong sense of empathy for your constituents and teammates.
    • The flexibility to travel to in-person engagements as needed (estimated 5-10 trips in first year).

Benefits to Working at Wholesome Wave:

    • Generous benefits including vacation, excellent Medical, Dental and Vision insurance, 401(k) plan and remote work option.
    • A dynamic and creative team committed to addressing health and food equity at a structural level.
