    Position Summary

    Based in Port Angeles, the Operations and Finance Director is a permanent, full-time, exempt position that oversees the Land Trust’s business operations.

    The Operations and Finance Director is a member of the Land Trust’s Leadership Team and reports to the Executive Director. This position requires a highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented leader eager to contribute and excel in a collaborative work environment supporting land conservation on the North Olympic Peninsula. The position supervises the Administrative Assistant supporting strong day-to-day administration.

    This position has two overarching focuses:

    1. To provide leadership and implementation of the Land Trust’s business practices including office administration, facility management, human resources, IT systems, and insurance. The position will also help ensure the organization maintains accreditation with the Land Trust Alliance.
    2. To oversee and manage Land Trust finances. Specifically, this includes financial strategy, budgeting, reporting, audit coordination, finance committee support, payroll, and oversight/coordination of accounting functions.

    Qualifications

    • Passion for the mission of North Olympic Land Trust and for the lands and communities it serves,
    • Over 4 years of progressive management experience, including experience in a nonprofit environment.
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (eg. business administration, non-profit management, accounting, finance)
    • Strong knowledge of nonprofit financial management, including fund accounting, grants management, and compliance as well as familiarity with financial planning and real estate finance.
    • Experience with financial software (QuickBooks), Database management (e.g., Salesforce), and advanced Excel skills.
    • Demonstrated success in supervising and mentoring staff and managing budgets.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
    • A valid driver’s license.

    Physical Work Requirements

    The working environment of the Operations and Finance Director is primarily in an office setting. However, the position occasionally travels to off-site locations to attend meetings and other job-related activities. Office duties are often sedentary and require the ability to operate general office equipment.
