    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The temporary/part time program coordinator role will oversee the implementation of AMIGOS’ Community Impact Project (CIP). The CIP is a classroom-based program that prepares high school students to be environmental changemakers through hands-on experience implementing a service project in their community. Through the program, they develop skills in personal leadership, ethical service, and cultural competency. The program is rooted in Design Thinking as a methodology for driving change. This initiative aims to mobilize an enthusiastic network of changemakers, empowering students to actively participate in finding solutions within their communities.

    The Program Coordinator is responsible for the execution of the Community Impact Project. They are directly accountable for all aspects of the program, including curriculum delivery, group management, and oversight of Program Mentors. They ensure that the program meets established goals and outputs. They serve as the lead facilitator and content expert for the duration of the program. Sets expectations for Program Mentors for positive and professional working relationships. They coordinate, supervise, and provide ongoing support to the Program Mentors, among related tasks.

    IMPORTANT: Applicants must be available during the school day on Tuesday and Thursdays to lead class in-person.

    KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Partnership Management

    • Manage relationship with key program partner – a school within the Houston Independent School District (HISD)
    • Work collaboratively with classroom teacher to implement program

    Community Impact Project Implementation

    • Plan CIP semester-long timeline, including biweekly workshop topics and asynchronous assignments
    • Lead bi-weekly workshops in two classrooms (Tuesday and Thursday)
    • Update AMIGOS curriculum on ethical community service based in Design Thinking via AMIGOS Learning Management System (Canvas)
    • Directly support students to implement community service projects (depending on number of mentors)
    • Lead supervision of 50+ students and team of mentors
    • Manage the CIP budget

    Program Mentor:

    • Recruit mentors for CIP in coordination with Managing Director of Programs
    • Onboard, supervise and evaluate up to 3 mentors
    • Manage workflow and communication within the team

    Other:

    • Complete follow up/close out work from the program, including compiling lessons learn/how to guides for future staff running program
    • Other CIP related tasks as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience running programs with young people; mentoring young people (experience leading AMIGOS program is a plus)
    • Experience working in an LMS (such as Canvas) and a CRM (such as Salesforce)
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Comfortable working independently
    • Professionally fluent in English
    • Skilled in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Zoom
    • Positive attitude and solution-driven approach
    • Experience working in cross-cultural environments
    • Ability to travel to school site

    JOB RELATIONSHIPS

    • Supervises the students’ mentors
    • Report Directly to the Managing Director of Programs
