    Description

    Director of Development

    The Ukrainian Institute of America (UIA) serves as a vital educational and cultural forum for showcasing Ukraine’s rich heritage and for educating the public about Ukraine’s past and present. As a nonprofit organization, the UIA promotes cultural understanding, provides a platform for the exchange of ideas, and sustains an extensive program of art exhibits, musical performances, panel discussions, film screenings, book readings, and other cultural and social events.

    The Director of Development is responsible for all fundraising activities.

    Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Administration and coordination of development strategy and systems, including:

    • Create donor relation strategies and implementation plans.
    • Identify and build a pipeline of major donors.
    • Develop Annual Funding plans for both unrestricted and restricted for operations and program support.
    • Develop systems to monitor and grow Foundation and Corporate grants.
    • Research and identify prospects.
    • Manage gift record processing.
    • Coordinate personalized acknowledgement and recognition of gifts.
    • Record data and donor information in donor database.
    • Oversee and maintain online donation platform.

    Administration and coordination of Special Events:

    • Oversee the execution of the annual gala.
    • Collaborate on the creation of other outreach and fundraising events.

    Develop systems and to work with President, UIA Trustees and Executive Director to:

    • Plan and implement development policies and programs.
    • Identify revenue objectives that match funding needs and opportunities with private and public resources.
    • Match foundation priorities with potential funding sources at the individual, corporate and foundation levels.
    • Develop and manage annual fund.
    • Create and manage strategies and funding proposals for unrestricted, restricted, capital, and endowment gifts, including annual project support for all programs.
    • Identify prospects, develop strategy, and cultivation and solicitation activities.
    • Manage major gifts cultivations and solicitation to individuals, corporations and foundations.
    • Oversee stewardship and gift acknowledgements.
    • Coordinate visits to the Ukrainian Institute of America by key prospects, donors, members, and friends.

    Develop and manage direct mail and online annual appeals by:

    • Analyze direct mail/digital solicitation program results data.
    • Oversee strategy and implementation of Giving Tuesday and end-of calendar year, and end-of fiscal year giving.

    Work closely and coordinate with staff to:

    • Oversee donor advancement publications, reports and news releases.
    • Prepare annual and campaign reports.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
    • 5-7 years of successful nonprofit development experience with increased responsibilities and a track record of accomplishments.
    • Experience in developing and implementing fundraising plans with a strong knowledge of principles and practices.
    • Ability to identify and measure fundraising and communications outcomes and make data-driven recommendations.
    • Superior written and oral communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
    • Solid commitment to the mission of the Ukrainian Institute of America and ability to serve as a compelling ambassador for the organization.
    • Strong technology skills: Microsoft office, CRM’s: expertise in fundraising software and tools
    • Available to work full-time onsite in the office.
    • Familiarity with and interest in Ukraine is necessary.
