    About the Montco Anti-Hunger Network

    The Montco Anti-Hunger Network (MAHN) supports innovation, and works to reduce hunger. Serving as a backbone organization addressing food insecurity in Montgomery County, Montco Anti-Hunger Network is a rapidly growing network consisting of 70+ food pantries, food banks and free meal providers. Montco Anti-Hunger Network serves as a thought leader – supporting policy advocacy locally and nationally on food security, and providing emergency food to over 73,000 individuals. An innovative and growing organization – MAHN provides 800,000+ lbs of food a year, having increased emergency food distribution by 100.86% in the past year. MAHN also distributes annual grants to support food purchasing and innovation to food pantries.

    Innovation Coordinator/ Manager

    Montco Anti-Hunger Network is seeking a highly-motivated individual to serve as our Innovation Coordinator/ Manager to support our innovation, programming, policy and data work. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who wants to make a real impact on hunger and food justice, and to create systemic change in the food security space.

    The Innovation Coordinator/ Manager will develop and manage innovative programming for the Food System in Montgomery County via strategies developed in the Build Back Better Emergency Food System Montgomery County (BBB-EFSMC) strategic vision. This position will be responsible for managing collaboration, as well as developing and scaling innovation pilot programs, and supporting Coalition Meetings at Montco Anti-Hunger Network. This position will support programming around policy advocacy and data analysis as well. This key position will serve as a connecting point between the organization and partner network we serve.

    Responsibilities

    Supporting Existing and New Pilot Programing and Innovation Work– 50%

    1. Be primary point of contact with pilot project leaders providing virtual and on-hands support in planning, implementing, and evaluating existing pilot programs
    2. Create a framework for EFSMC to pursue new pilot program development
    3. Engage with partners through implementation period to ensure projects are adequately supported
    4. Support Bridging the Gap Programming, programming looking at gaps in the food security net – and partnering organizations together to support innovative new programs to fill gaps.
    5. Report regularly to Executive Director about pilot progress, evaluation, and budget status
    6. Support Hunger Action Teams (coalitions of people working in food security)
    7. Manage relationships with elected officials, supporting policy advocacy at local, state and federal levels, including very occasional travel to DC and Harrisburg
    8. Support data analysis programming regarding food insecurity in Montgomery County

    Outreach and Engagement of MAHN Network – 50%

    1. Serve as liaison between MAHN and network to assess network needs and provide program recommendations to meet identified needs
    2. Create opportunities for partner agencies to engage, learn, and support each other
    3. Facilitate 4-5 peer learning circles for community partners on best practices from peers and experts in the field to enhance food pantry programs
    4. Conduct in-person pantry visitations
    5. Create a system for regular collection and analysis of pantry reporting data including but not limited to challenges faced, capacity needs, and impact generated
    6. Play a key role in organizing annual Hunger Action Summit Conference
    7. Support grant making process for the Nourish Montco Grant ($500,000 of food purchase support allocated to emergency food providers.)
    8. Help coordinate Montgomery County Core Community Council – convening all emergency food providers in Montgomery County co-sponsored by the Food Policy Council

    Qualifications:

    Experience: 1-6 years anti-hunger or anti-poverty experience. Significant expertise with the area’s food security landscape highly desirable.

    Skills and Abilities:

    1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    2. High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.
    3. A team player committed to developing and working within a collaborative environment and to ensuring the highest customer service orientation.
    4. Strong mathematical or statistical skills
    5. High level of professionalism.
    6. Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and adapt to new priorities quickly.
    7. Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative work style, comfortable working as part of a small, hard-working team
    8. Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, data entry, and database software (CRM)

    Education:. Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degree is highly desirable. Training in statistics highly desirable. Experience working in Montgomery County Anti-Hunger space may be substituted for educational requirements.

    Skills and Abilities: Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences. Excellent verbal and written skills, including strict attention to detail. Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills. A team player committed to developing and working within a collaborative environment and to ensuring the highest customer service orientation. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform under tight deadlines.

    Working Conditions:

    This position is hybrid/remote, with a large portion of it being remote. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5 p.m. Occasional weekends and evenings as necessary. Local travel by automobile required. Will be working with a small but incredibly friendly knowledgeable team of peers.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    Salary for this position is currently set from $41,000 - $50,000 and to promote fairness and transparency is not negotiable beyond this range. Position includes health, dental and vision insurance as well as generous benefits.
