    Description

    IT Systems Specialist

    The Systems Specialist is responsible for maintaining, configuring, and ensuring the reliable operation of the organization’s computer systems. These systems include physical, virtual, cloud-based, and hybrid servers and applications.

    The role focuses on optimizing uptime, performance, resource allocation, and security to meet and exceed organizational needs. Additionally, the Systems Specialist proactively analyzes existing systems and provides recommendations for improvements.

    This role reports to the Sr. Director of Information Technology.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Manage server, network and cloud environments
    • Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems and software applications
    • Set up and maintain computer networks, including LAN and VPN connections
    • Provide technical user support for software, hardware, remote access and network-related issues. Support is preformed onsite and remotely, across multiple time zones and our California Office.
    • Administer and support Microsoft 365 applications such as Teams, OneDrive, Exchange, SharePoint and MS Backup
    • Secure and maintenance of desktop, network and server environments
    • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability
    • Maintain accurate documentation of IT support activities
    • Manage IT asset hardware and software lifecycles
    • Assist in the procurement and setup of new IT equipment
    • Assist with implementing new technologies
    • Contribute to ongoing IT projects and upgrades

    Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in hands on IT support
    • Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, AD, GPO and Print/File)
    • Experience managing and supporting Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Win11, MAC
    • Experience supporting users and preforming high level tasks remotely
    • Experience with SonicWall, Aruba and other network devices and applications
    • Experience with ticketing systems for issue tracking, LMI, ESET, A/V systems and Dialpad
    • Nonprofit or association experience preferred

    Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

    • Relevant certifications such as Security+ or Network+ preferred.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically
    • Ability to prioritize workloads, support multiple users, and provide quick response to user issues.
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs. for moving and setting up computer equipment.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to interact with end users of all technical levels to explain technology and processes.
    • Strong documentation abilities
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
    • Pro-active in identifying potential issues with a proposed process or systems change.

    Location:

    This position is 2 days remote and 3 days in-person work in our Downtown/Foggy Bottom office or as needed. Candidate must be based in the DC Metro area. Availability for scheduled Weekend/Holiday coverage required.

    Salary:

    $80-90K per year
