DOVE (Domestic Violence Ended), Inc. was founded in 1978 and has since grown from one crisis hotline to a comprehensive multi-services organization. DOVE is the only domestic violence organization in Norfolk County. DOVE provides a range of services for individuals who have experienced abuse, including a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, safety assessment and planning, supportive education and counseling, support groups, legal assistance, assistance accessing governmental and community-based services, and community outreach and education. At DOVE, we believe that all people have the right to live free from the fear of abuse. At our core, DOVE’s work is about fostering healthier and safer relationships for all. DOVE recognizes that oppression and historical and systemic inequity are root causes of problems we strive to address with and on behalf or survivors. Job Purpose
As a member of the development team, reporting to the Director of Development, the Development and Communications Associate will execute the day-to-day operations of DOVE’s fundraising and communications efforts to increase philanthropic support for DOVE’s work. Areas of focus to include database operations and management, website maintenance, institutional communications, annual fund development, and event support.
Responsibilities
Database Operations and Management (40%):
- Manage DOVE’s donation database “Bloomerang” by preforming all data entry functions and financial activities including the recording of donations from a variety of sources.
- Maintain accurate donor records ensuring the integrity of the fundraising database.
- Record by data-entry all donations including checks, electronic funds transfers, in-kind gifts, and third-party providers.
- Execute all donor acknowledgements and gift processing.
- Ensure that acknowledgements are personalized and sent to constituents within 48-72 hours.
- Produces receipts for all contributions.
- Maintain records of and acknowledgments for in-kind contributions.
- Maintains all donor hard copy files and records.
- Retrieve data from third party donation and matching gifts processing organizations to record in database.
- Prepares gift logs for Finance so that pledges, gifts, and contributions coming from multiple sources including checks, credit cards, electronic fund transfers, and third-party intermediary payors are recorded on GLs and booked to appropriate accounts.
- Works closely with Finance to provide information weekly, monthly, year-end reconciliations, and audit data collection.
- Create, organize, prepare, and execute donor data reports and analytics.
- Generate necessary donor data for annual reports.
- Generate donor reports for analysis as well as segmented data for email blasts, mailings, and other uses.
- Co-manage DOVE’s event software with the Events Manager including maintaining accurate and timely data entry and reconciliation with the accountants.
- Other donor data related tasks and activities as needed.
Website Management (10%):
- Manage and update the organization's website hosted by Wix.
- Lead the team in managing and creating content for DOVE’s website, including coordinating content with DOVE program staff and writing content.
- Work with graphic designer on website design and functionality.
Communications (35%):
- Write and coordinate content for DOVE’s communication collateral including: electronic and hard copy newsletters, email blasts, annual reports, brochures, and promotional materials for services.
- Maintain inventory, stocking, and organization of all of these hard-copy materials.
- Write for and coordinate content for DOVE’s print and electronic communications as they pertain to events.
- Work with DOVE’s designated graphic designer.
- Coordinate with staff content and strategies for use on social media with regular postings.
- Lead, coordinate, and produce donor mailings including planning, drafting of content, oversight of design, printing and mailing of annual appeal letters, special mailings, and other communications.
- Ensure that DOVE’s print and online communications are well-written, engaging, reflective of DOVE’s mission and values, and speak directly to donors in a respectful way to encourage support for DOVE’s work.
- Oversee media coverage and publicity about contributions from individuals and businesses where photographs are needed and press releases are to be written.
Annual Fund Development (15%):
- Create and manage DOVE’s annual appeal campaign via mail, phone, and through electronic media.
- Execute annual Valentine’s Day donor stewardship and community engagement initiative.
- Manage Giving Tuesday communications and media campaign.
- Engage with DOVE’s donors to cultivate and steward their relationship to DOVE to increase philanthropic support.
- Collaborate and support the Events Manager with event strategic planning and all aspects of event execution and follow-up.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attend and participate in supervision meetings, staff/team and committee meetings, and relevant committee meetings.
- Stay abreast of trends, news, research, and emerging and best practices in philanthropy, fundraising, and development.
- DOVE has committed 5% (2 hrs/wk) of all staff time to participate in active learning regarding justice and equity issues, including regarding race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, etc., to include reading, listening to podcasts, watching webinars, videos, etc. Active discussion with peers is encouraged. For BIPOC and LGBQ/T staff, time can include commitment to self-care and resilience building as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous full-time work experience within nonprofit organizations.
- Working knowledge and experience with nonprofit donor databases.
- Experience with Bloomerang or comparable nonprofit donor database software.
- Experience with Wix or comparable website management tool.
- Tech and social media savvy; excellent computer skills, with a high level of proficiency of the internet and technology, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
- Skills and experience in donor stewardship and cultivation.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong professional presentation skills and ability to work well with key stakeholders including community members, donors and supporters, Board and Advisory Council members, and survivors engaged with DOVE.
- Well organized, have excellent attention to detail, and have the ability to manage multiple tasks at a quick pace, follow through to completion, manage competing demands and activities by prioritizing and communicating clearly and meet deadlines.

- Solid work-ethic, can work independently, are self-motivated, self-reliant, and dependable.

Requirements:
- Must have valid MA driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel within DOVE’s service area.
- Must be committed to DOVE’s mission, vision, core values, and practice philosophies in ending violence and oppression, using empowerment practice, and promoting social justice/change.
- Complete DOVE’s domestic violence training program within first year of hire.
- Ability to climb and descend stairs and lift/carry up to 30 pounds.
- A CORI background check is mandatory. CORI History will be reviewed and may not disqualify candidates.
Work Schedule:
Full-time (35-hour work week), non-exempt position, generally Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm. Occasional nights and weekend work may be necessary to conduct and/or attend trainings, meetings, outreach events, fundraising events, etc.
Compensation & Benefits:

- The salary for this position is $55,000 non-negotiable
- Additional compensation of $2,000 gross annual is available for proficient language skills preferred in DOVE’s catchment area, including Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, and/or ASL
- Paid time off: Vacation (3 weeks in Year 1, increases at Year 3), Personal Days (3 days/year), Sick time (12 days/year), and 13 Holidays
