    Menlo Spark is a nonprofit working to help Menlo Park and the broader Bay Area become climate neutral. We partner with local government, businesses, and residents to advance equity, economic vitality, and community health through innovative climate solutions.

    We are seeking a dynamic, relationship-centered Marketing and Outreach Coordinator to drive our community engagement and outreach. This role combines strategic communication and grassroots community organizing to advance climate action in Menlo Park, with a special focus on both Spanish and English speakers in the Belle Haven community. The Coordinator will help achieve our ambitious goals of supporting 150 additional households in decarbonizing their homes by July 2026 and advancing Menlo Park's broader mission of 90% building decarbonization by 2030.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Community Engagement and Outreach (30%)

    • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with community organizations, faith-based groups, schools, and elected officials
    • Identify and cultivate relationships with key community influencers
    • Identify, partner with, and support active student environmental clubs annually across Menlo Park schools to lead projects that support local climate action
    • Recruit additional volunteer residents in Menlo Park and Belle Haven to support outreach efforts
    • Coordinate direct community outreach strategies, including door-to-door canvassing and event tabling
    • Expand newsletter subscription base from 600 to 1000 subscribers

    Event Planning (20%)

    • Plan and execute 2-4 major bilingual community events annually, collaborating with partners. Coordinate logistics including venue, refreshments, translation services, and participant incentives
    • Support electrified home tours/workshops
    • Manage information booths at 4-6 community gatherings
    • Support student-led environmental events

    Communications, Content Creation, and Digital Media (25%)

    • Create educational content about decarbonization and climate action, including compelling success stories
    • Write content for local/regional publications
    • Develop and maintain bilingual outreach materials
    • Manage monthly/quarterly newsletter and website content
    • Analyze engagement metrics and optimize digital strategies
    • Coordinate email communications with partners

    Program Development & Management (10%)

    • Track program metrics and impact, design report to be provided to the Advisory board quarterly
    • Support grant applications and reporting

    Qualifications:

    Required

    • Minimum 2 years experience in developing and implementing community engagement strategies or relevant Bachelors degree
    • Passion for environmental sustainability and clean energy
    • Track record of cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse communities
    • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal)
    • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
    • Familiarity with email marketing platforms and website management
    • Demonstrated ability to create compelling content and educational materials
    • Creative problem-solving abilities and results-oriented mindset
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
    • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within Menlo Park area
    • Some evening and weekend work required for community events

    Preferred

    • Knowledge of the Belle Haven community and broader Menlo Park area
    • Experience in public speaking and presentations
    • Knowledge of local government processes

    Workplace, Compensation & Application

    Workplace: This is a hybrid role; you will generally work remotely, but need to be able to attend meetings in-person in Menlo Park and San Mateo County. Menlo Spark does not have a physical office location.

    Hours: We are flexible to hire for this role on either a full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time (25 hours/week) basis. See note below regarding compensation and benefits for a part-time position.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Full-time salary: $70,000 annually (prorated to $33.65/hour for part-time positions at 25 hours/week)
