    JOB SUMMARY

    The Program Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing program engagement activities. This includes assessing, designing and implementation of various curriculum, facilitating training for our teaching artists, as well as maintaining a robust youth development program, and engaging with community partners. In this highly collaborative position, the Program Manager will manage shared goals set by the Team.

    We seek an individual who has excellent project management skills; someone who can take an idea, build a road map, and implement it. This person can be productive independently and collaborate well with the Residency’s small team. They center youth and social justice while being an advocate for hip-hop culture. This person is a lifelong learner who isn’t afraid of not knowing, and has the drive to learn more.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Program Support:

    • Manage all program operations, including interns, in coordination with the DP
    • Build systems, templates & organize all programs
    • Assist ED & DP to develop & implement programs & curriculum
    • Assess & evaluate all programs
    • Support engagements requiring travel

    Youth Participant Support:

    • Coordinate & support youth program engagement
    • Track, identify, & coordinate youth performers with performance opportunities
    • Support individual youth projects & professional development opportunities
    • Create artistic profiles for all youth participants (ex. bio, headshot, skills, music)
    • Teach/Mentor youth participants as needed

    Youth Council Support:

    • Build systems to support the Council (application, review process, goals/activities, etc)
    • Meeting coordination, scheduling & communication
    • Attend & help facilitate meetings w/ DP
    • Track & support tasks assigned to the Youth Council
    • Support the DP in mentoring the Youth Council
    • Work with the Events Manager to support the Youth Council’s Satellite Shows

    Teaching Artist Management:

    • Work with the ED and DP to identify & hire Teaching Artists
    • Onboard Teaching Artists
    • Track reports on progress & participation
    • Coordinate hours & invoices with Administrative Coordinator
    • Create artistic profiles for all TAs (bio, headshot, skills, music sample)
    • Assess and support the implementation of curriculum with teaching artists and program team

    Event Management:

    • Support rehearsals for performances
    • Support Events Manager for all program events
    • Support events & workshops day-of as needed

    Summer Intensive Program Management:

    • Project manage all aspects of the Summer Intensive
    • Lead community partner communication
    • Develop participant outreach & selection coordination
    • Secure TAs & workshop venues
    • Coordinate with the Events Manager for the Final Showcase & applicable workshops

    Administrative:

    • Manage the Program Calendar; assess organization’s capacity
    • Coordinate newsletter & website info with the Administrative Coordinator
    • Coordinate hiring docs & payroll for performers, participants, & Teaching Artists w/ the Administrative Coordinator
    • Coordinate & schedule internal trainings as needed
    • Manage graphics/assets for each program
    • Manage & track the program budget
    • Work closely with Events Manager to support Social Media

    Other Duties (as needed):

    • Represent The Residency at public tabling & outreach events
    • Assist with Development Team events

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • 5+ years experience in a project management role, with demonstrated ability to deliver events on time & on budget
    • Experience developing new, & existing programs from the ground up
    • Experience working with young people (& be willing to take trainings)
    • Familiarity with managing a teaching curriculum
    • Proficiency in industry tools such as Google Suite, Apple, Zoom, etc

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Strong ties to the community being served & connections to opportunities outside of performance
    • Experience with group facilitation
    • Connection to local music & performing arts community (specifically hip-hop)
    • Multilingual skills (especially Spanish)

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written; comfortable speaking in public/group settings
    • Able to prioritize & handle multiple assignments while maintaining commitment to deadlines in a fast paced environment
    • High standards of organization, including attention to detail, reliability, professionalism, & personable attitude
    • Able to work independently & collaboratively with a multigenerational team
    • Be willing to be flexible in tasks & assist the small team
    • Positive, proactive, & able to exercise great judgment
    • Competent in hip-hop culture (or be able to take trainings)
    • Interest in supporting artist communities, practices, & organizations; Belief in the power of arts to transform individuals & communities
    • Willingness to approach the work through a racial & intersectional justice analysis, & with a commitment to social justice
    • Strong critical thinking skills; ability to find creative solutions, & adaptability while working with diverse artists, neighbors, partners & audiences.
    • Ability to work hybrid/remotely in the Pacific Northwest & to attend in-person team meetings, programs, & events regularly
    • Able to lift 30-50 pounds
    • Available evenings & weekends (for scheduled events)
