    About The Reach Foundation:

Founded in 2017, The Reach Foundation is a beacon of opportunity for first-generation, low-income students of color in East San Jose. We provide intensive, personalized mentoring and critical financial support to help overlooked students (typically with a 3.0-3.7 GPA) navigate the complex journey to and through college.

    Our unique model provides:

Comprehensive Mentoring: One-on-one support from high school through college graduation, fostering trusted and lasting relationships.

Strategic Focus: Targeting students whose academic profile often leaves them without the robust support needed to thrive in higher education.

Proven Results: A remarkable 90% college graduation rate for our Reach Fellows, compared to the national average of 12% for similar students. We've mentored 360 students into higher education, with 99% college acceptance, of which 20% receive Reach scholarships.

Significant Impact: Providing scholarships (up to $30,000 per student) that empower students to graduate debt-free and focus on their studies.

    The Opportunity:

This is an exciting time to join The Reach Foundation. With a dedicated team of 25 staff volunteers supporting our high school and college mentoring programs, we are poised for significant growth. As Executive Director, you will be the driving force behind our continued success, leading our programs, fundraising efforts, operations, and strategic vision. You will work closely with a committed Board of Directors and a passionate volunteer team, requiring both strategic leadership and a hands-on approach.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Fundraising & Development:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that diversifies revenue streams, strengthens donor relationships, and achieves an annual fundraising goal of at least $500,000.
    • Devise a grant writing plan that best utilizes grant writing volunteers’ time and resources.
    • Cultivate and steward relationships with funders and major donors.
    • Serve as a compelling external representative, building brand awareness, thought leadership, and community connections.
    • Oversee the organization's brand and marketing efforts.

    Program Leadership:

    • Support the Chief Operations Officer who manages the High School and College Mentoring Programs, ensuring the smooth and effective delivery of all program components (mentor recruitment, training, student support, etc.).
    • Champion capacity-building initiatives to enhance program efficiency and impact.
    • Cultivate and strengthen partnerships with high schools, colleges, and corporations to expand our network of mentors and students.
    • Recruit and train volunteers in a variety of roles.

    Operational Excellence:

    • Lead the development and growth of our volunteer team, with a vision for future paid staff expansion.
    • Oversee financial management, including budget development, financial reporting, and collaboration with accounting professionals.
    • Ensure compliance with all nonprofit regulations and manage annual tax filings.
    • Lead all HR functions, fostering a positive and productive team environment.

    Strategic Vision & Growth:

    • Partner with the Board of Directors and team to refine and implement the organization's strategic plan and growth vision.
    • Contribute innovative ideas to scale our impact through enhanced staffing, fundraising systems, marketing strategies, and evaluation frameworks.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Attend occasional evening and weekend events (in-person and virtual).

    What You Bring:

    • A proven track record of successful fundraising with consistent generation of at least $250k per year.
    • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of director-level experience in a nonprofit or related sector.

    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote team, with reliable transportation for local travel within the San Jose and East Bay areas.
    • Passion for The Reach Foundation's mission and a deep commitment to educational equity.
    • A growth mindset and willingness to learn and adapt quickly.

    Compensation & Benefits:
