    ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION AND THE OPPORTUNITY

    The Education Trust (EdTrust) seeks an Assistant I, Development to join the organization’s Development Team. The Assistant will join a staff at EdTrust who are committed to fulfilling a mission of closing opportunity gaps that disproportionately affect students of color and students from low-income backgrounds.

    The Development Assistant supports EdTrust’s fundraising to meet annual budget goals and position the organization for long-term sustainability. Ideal candidates for this role enjoy working behind-thescenes with data, including entering data accurately and generating reports. This role also provides administrative support for the development team and directly to our Chief Development Officer, getting a front-row seat into what it looks like to run a high-energy fundraising program while ensuring all i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed with calendars, travel, logistics, and more. The Development Assistant plays a key role in ensuring that the development team functions smoothly and efficiently and is well-positioned to deliver on the organization’s mission of advancing educational equity.

    Available immediately, this role is based in our Washington, D.C. office and is eligible for telework for up to 3 days a week per our current policy. The Development Assistant reports to the Chief Development Officer.

    ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT ROLE

    Major responsibilities of the Development Assistant include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Database Coordination, Data Entry, and Reporting (50% of role)

    • Input data accurately into the Salesforce database to maintain institutional knowledge and allow for more efficient reporting
    • Build dashboards in Salesforce to display data in ways that support the Development and Program Teams
    • Extract data and reports from Salesforce to inform fundraising activities
    • Continuous learning and development around Salesforce database topics most critical to job function

    Development Support (20% of role)

    • Coordinate fundraising deadlines calendar in Asana
    • Assist the Development team with organizing documentation for grant deliverables and meeting preparation
    • Process all grant awards and acknowledgements in coordination with relevant teams (e.g., finance, program teams)

    Administrative Support (30% of role)

    • Schedule and manage an active calendar of appointments for the fundraising team, prioritizing incoming requests in alignment with the primary objectives of the organization and the CDO, coordinating daily agendas, and updating the calendar to include pertinent information
    • Arrange and coordinate travel (including itineraries, logistical details, transportation, and lodging) and collaborate with other departments (e.g., president’s office, communications, policy and research) to leverage the development team’s time for other key in-person meetings while travelling
    • Process department vendor contracts and agreements, invoices, check requests, and expense reports for the finance team
    • Assist the Development team in scheduling, coordinating logistics, and assembling and disseminating materials for events, conferences, and meetings

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

    • At least a high school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Experience working in a database such as Salesforce or other similar CRM system highly preferred
    • Demonstrated interest in the nonprofit sector and fundraising
