Our organization provides high quality special education services, expertise, and support to enable children and teens with diverse learning needs to succeed in Jewish educational settings and participate meaningfully in Jewish life. The Development and Marketing Assistant will provide essential support to our Director of Development and Communications and help to achieve strategic fundraising goals by assisting in all development and fundraising efforts, including donor relations and communications, event planning, and database and project management. This role will also work to enhance Gateways’ visibility and impact by assisting the communications and marketing team with marketing campaigns, content creation, social media management and engagement, and website support. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, communicates skillfully, proactive, enjoys collaborating with team members, and is passionate about contributing to an organization dedicated to providing inclusive educational opportunities within the Jewish community.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist with donor stewardship, outreach, and correspondence through digital and physical communications.
    • Organize and implement fundraising campaigns, including major gifts and annual appeals.
    • Maintain accurate donor databases and records, and track and report key fundraising metrics.
    • Collaborate with development and marketing teams to create compelling fundraising materials, presentations, marketing collateral, and external communications.
    • Manage gift and tribute acknowledgment letters and invoicing processes.
    • Oversee social media accounts, including content creation, posting, and follower engagement.
    • Update website with content and design elements.
    • Monitor website and social media metrics and collaborate with the marketing team to analyze organizational impact and reach.
    • Support development and event planning teams in coordinating and executing fundraising events, including Gateways’ annual signature event, Sweet Sounds.
    • Assist with preparation of materials for meetings with donors, Board of Trustees, and others.
    • Provide additional administrative support as needed.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent.
    • 1-3 years’ experience in development, fundraising, marketing, or nonprofit administration is preferred. Previous experience working with donor management software or databases (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce) is also preferred.
    • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly with donors and key stakeholders.
    • Tech savvy, with proficiency and comfort in social media posting and engagement.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with WordPress, Canva, and Constant Contact.

    Ideal Qualities:

    • Aligned with Gateways’ mission and values.
    • People-oriented, comfortable, and eager to engage with donors, board members and colleagues.
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information utilizing discretion and professionalism.
    • Creative, curious, with an eye for detail, and a willingness to learn.
    • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and thrive within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
    • Gateways is based in Newton, MA, with year-round staff working primarily remotely with in-person office space available. Because responsibilities for this position include in-person meetings and campaign support, event facilitation, and professional development, local residency is required.

    Compensation:

    • This is a year-round, 32-hour/week position, with a salary range of $45,0000-50,000 based on experience.
    • Benefits for this full-time position include generous paid time off, health, dental and vision plan options, flexible spending account, 403b matching retirement plan, and employer-paid-long-term disability and life insurance.
