    Description

    ABOUT THE CHRIS LONG FOUNDATION

The mission of the Chris Long Foundation is to mobilize ambassadors, service providers, and experts to help communities access clean water, address basic needs for youth and families, and inspire others to make an impact at home and abroad. Our vision is access and opportunity everywhere. Through our Waterboys and EdZone initiatives we support practical solutions to complex global challenges, catalyzing long-term change and improving the quality of life from the individual to the community level. Our champions from the world of sports and media spread the word about the importance of clean water and educational equity, raise funds and awareness, and catalyze collective action.

The Foundation was launched in 2015 by two-time Super Bowl Champion, global humanitarian, and media personality Chris Long and his wife Megan. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

The Chris Long Foundation is seeking a full-time Programs and Partnerships Coordinator to support engagement with elite athletes and influencers, advance the Foundation’s program work in clean water access and educational equity, and help execute fundraising and awareness-raising events and campaigns.

The Programs and Partnerships Coordinator reports to the Foundation’s Executive Director. This position will be part of a small-but-mighty team, and will work closely with the Director of Development and Director of Marketing and Communications. The Foundation’s work is fast-paced, but we offer a collegial and collaborative work culture. We have a casual office environment and opportunities for a hybrid work schedule. This position also offers interesting opportunities for domestic and international travel and meaningful engagement with colleagues from across the world of professional sports and sports media who support our mission. Employee benefits include health, dental, and vision plans; a retirement plan with employer match; and paid leave. The anticipated salary range is $55,000 to $70,000.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Coordinate the Foundation’s collaboration with current athlete and influencer Ambassadors; identify and secure the participation of new athletes and influencers who are passionate about the Foundation’s causes of clean water access and educational equity.
    • Help develop digital and print materials to support Ambassador recruitment and engagement.
    • Help plan awareness-raising and fundraising campaigns that draw on the interests and platforms of the Foundation’s Ambassadors to advance the Foundation’s mission and programs; continually generate new ideas to galvanize Ambassador engagement.
    • Contribute to sports-focused social media content, with creative tie-ins to the Foundation’s mission, and highlight Ambassador engagement and contributions.
    • Manage Conquering Kili, an annual fundraising and awareness-raising program that sends a group of U.S. military combat veterans, professional athletes, and clean water advocates to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro—Africa’s highest peak.
    • Support the Foundation’s Waterboys and EdZone initiatives, including regular engagement with implementing partners, program strategy and project selection, tracking project progress, and communicating quantitative and qualitative impact.
    • Help plan and execute domestic project launches (e.g., HometownH2O drills, EdZone book readings) and associated Ambassador engagement.
    • Help plan and execute special events that involve athlete and influencer Ambassadors, including the Waterboys Charity Challenge and Team Dinner.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in sports marketing, communications, business, or other relevant discipline and at least three years of relevant professional experience.
    • Enthusiasm for the mission and programs of the Chris Long Foundation and a career in the nonprofit sector.
    • Experience working with elite athletes, brand ambassadors, influencers, and/or celebrities and an understanding of how to forge creative, mutually-beneficial partnerships.
    • Passionate sports fan and avid follower of the NFL highly desired.
    • Experience using digital platforms to further social causes.
    • Collegial and collaborative team player; ability to foster productive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
    • Proven project coordination and administrative skills, with high attention to detail.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Highly organized and self-directed; excellent time management skills.
    • Ability to staff occasional events outside normal working hours and occasionally travel domestically and overseas to support events and programs.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other commonly-used software programs (e.g., Dropbox, Slack).

The Chris Long Foundation appreciates the value that diverse experiences and perspectives bring to our team and our mission. We strive to create an inclusive environment for all employees.

While we have a strong preference for candidates who can be based in our Charlottesville office, we will consider candidates based elsewhere in Virginia or the Washington, DC area who can commit to traveling to Charlottesville on a frequent basis.

To apply, please submit a resume and cover letter by December 6, 2024.
