    About the Global Grants Program:

    The Bloomberg Philanthropies Data for Health Initiative’s Global Grants Program provides funds to government partners, through a competitive process, to implement. The Global Grants Program (GGP) provides funding and technical assistance to governments and local experts to implement discrete projects. These projects work to improve systems that collect, analyze, and use data for public health decision-making. The Global Grants Program is designed to follow the lead of the countries where we work, expand on lessons learned from previous data intelligence work, and promote regional collaboration among countries addressing similar issues, including the sharing of best practices and technical expertise.

    Job Purpose:

    Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, Program Implementation, the Program Associate, Project Implementation will be responsible for providing day-to-day programmatic support as well as assisting in the administration and monitoring of Grants to awardees. The Program Associate will have an opportunity to liaise with a global cross-cutting program team of staff, consultants, and grantees based in the US, Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Program & Administrative Support -

    • Provide administrative support to the application process through the compilation of demographic or technical review information for applicants and/or the Data for Health team;
    • Help ensure Human Subject Research compliance trainings for all projects;
    • Support logistics and/or curriculum development activities for virtual and in-person technical exchange convenings;
    • Maintain dashboards and, in collaboration with the Deputy Director, develop trackers and charts that organize or communicate GGP project information for internal or external audiences.

    Project Management Support -

    • Under the guidance of the Deputy Director, review monthly programmatic project report submissions from country teams for assigned regions/projects and develop a comprehensive understanding of their portfolios:
    • Follow-up with Country Teams on monthly activities, requests for further information, collection, and dissemination of lessons learned or potential global guidance documents;
    • Update relevant status trackers (milestones, goals, challenges, etc.) in project management tools such as Airtable, word processing, spreadsheets, etc., and format material as required;
    • Draft content for social media platforms, blogs, and communications materials in collaboration with GGP team members and the Policy Advocacy Communications (PAC) team;
    • Facilitate project closeouts by communicating deadlines and deliverables, reviewing documents, and recommending project accomplishments to be featured by Vital Strategies.

    Monitoring & Evaluation Administration -

    • Communicate with country teams to ensure the selection of indicators, baseline, and end-line data is collected;
    • Prepare donor reporting and development of charts and graphics to support communication of GGP data and outputs;
    • Additional tasks as required by the Deputy Director, or Director, GGP.

    Qualifications:

    Education and Degree -

    • Bachelor’s degree in any field, preferred.

    Skills and Abilities -

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office;
    • Strong organizational and time management skills;
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders;
    • Ability to work collaboratively and remotely with internal and external team members to meet expectations and deliver the necessary assistance on time;
    • Ability to work as part of a team, particularly in a multi-cultural, multi-regional context;
    • Ability to work with colleagues across multiple time zones;
    • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

    Experience:

    Required -

    • At least three (3) years of professional and/or work experience in public health, public policy, and/or international development

    Preferred -

    • Experience working with non-profits, foundations, or governments
    • Recent experience using survey platforms such as Fluxx or Airtable;
    • Possess a genuine interest in the mission and vision of Vital Strategies;
    • Demonstrated experience in professional and global settings;
    • Bilingual in either French or Spanish is a plus.

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

    • The position may be required to travel internationally up to 10% of the time to attend meetings and/or trainings.
