    Description

Food & Water Action is a leading national organization that mobilizes regular people to build political power to move bold and uncompromised solutions to the most pressing food, water, and climate problems of our time. We work to protect people’s health, communities, and democracy from the growing destructive power of the most powerful economic interests.

Food & Water Action has been working to build political power across New Jersey for almost fifteen years. We have stopped municipal water privatization schemes, moved towns around the state towards renewable energy, and stopped polluters from building out fossil fuel infrastructure. Following the downfall of the state’s anti-democratic “party line” system last year, 2025 will be New Jerseyans’ first chance to have a real voice in electing their state assembly members.

The North Jersey Field Director will recruit and manage a team of field organizers who will hit our goals to win major victories in 2025. The position will be based in Hudson County.

    About the position:

The North Jersey Field Director will report to the NJ State Director and will work with other staff on the New Jersey Organizing and administrative teams to support Food & Water Action’s work. The North Jersey Field Director will run a voter outreach operation to have meaningful conversations with thousands of voters to educate and mobilize them in the June 10th primary election. This is a full-time temporary grant-funded position starting as soon as possible, running through June 13th.

    Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 annualized at a prorated rate

Location: This position will be based in Hudson County.

This position will start as soon as possible, running through June 13, 2025.

    • Ensuring a daily transportation plan for organizers to get to turf and back, including acquiring rental cars when necessary.
    • Identify meetup locations for canvass sendoffs.

    Qualifications:

    • At least one election cycle canvassing and field organizing experience (either electoral or issue organizing works!).
    • Familiarity with VAN or a similar voter database tool.
    • Preferred (but not necessary) qualifications:
    • One election cycle canvass / field directing or one year organizing on an issue advocacy campaign.
