    Job Summary

    The Director of Housing will oversee all aspects of the organization's housing programs, ensuring the delivery of quality services to individuals and families in need of affordable housing. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing housing strategies, managing housing staff, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Director of Housing will play a key role in advancing the mission of North Brevard Charities by providing leadership, vision, and expertise in the housing sector.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Management

    • Develop, implement, and oversee housing programs that align with the organization’s mission and goals
    • Ensure programs meet the needs of clients and are delivered efficiently and effectively
    • Monitor and evaluate program performance, making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes

    Staff Leadership

    • Train, supervise, and evaluate housing program staff
    • Foster a positive, collaborative, and supportive team environment.
    • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for staff.

    Client Services

    • Ensure clients receive appropriate services, support, and referrals.
    • Develop and maintain systems to assess and address client needs.
    • Resolve client issues and complaints promptly and effectively.

    Program Development and Oversight

    • Design, implement, and manage housing programs that address the needs of low-income and vulnerable populations.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure housing services are integrated with other organizational programs (e.g., case management, social services).
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of housing trends, policies, and best practices, and apply this expertise to program development.

    Compliance and Reporting

    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal housing regulations.
    • Prepare and submit required reports and documentation to funders and regulatory agencies under the guidance of the Operations Manager/Executive Director
    • Maintain accurate records of program activities and client interactions.

    Community and Stakeholder Engagement

    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with local government agencies, housing authorities, and other community partners.
    • Represent the organization at meetings, coalitions, and public events to advocate for affordable housing initiatives and policies.
    • Identify funding opportunities and collaborate with the development team to secure financial support for housing programs.

    Budget and Funding

    • Manage the housing program budget
    • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and donations.
    • Prepare proposals and reports for funders and stakeholders
    • Submit work hours and monthly mileage reports for all housing program staff and self.

    In addition, complete all duties, assignments, and responsibilities given by the Operations Manager/Executive Director for the betterment of North Brevard Charities

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in social work, public administration and/or health services, urban planning, or a related field. (Master’s preferred but not required)
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in housing services
    • Experience working in a non-profit organization is desirable.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Minimum 2-year experience, training, or certification in Fair Housing, Affordable Housing, HUD (Project based Section 8), and HOME Funds
    • Ability to manage budget and some funding opportunities
    • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management systems
