Our mission is to advance sexual and reproductive well-being for all, with a focus on abortion and contraception. We accomplish this by providing trusted information, expanding access to quality services, and catalyzing culture change.

The Senior Director, Content will report to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with our organizational goal to broaden access to sexual and reproductive health information in English and Spanish, supporting wider marketing and fundraising initiatives, and focusing on engagement with our priority populations.
    • Oversee and contribute to the creation and quality of all written and video content across all our brands, including but not limited to Bedsider, AbortionFinder, and Power to Decide, ensuring it is consistently engaging, on-brand, accessible, inclusive, and deeply resonant with our target audiences.
    • Collaborate with the Vice President of Digital Programs and Education to deliver high-quality content in alignment with product roadmaps, meeting the needs of both existing and new digital products to support user engagement and strategic goals.
    • Incorporate the principles of health literacy, health education, and decision-making science to empower audiences with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed health decisions.
    • Optimize content across all platforms using SEO best practices to enhance visibility, drive organic traffic, and ensure our sexual and reproductive health information reaches priority populations effectively.
    • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Content to forecast and execute an organizational content calendar that aligns with team priorities and deadlines.
    • Work closely with the Director of Marketing and the Development team to strategically leverage the organization’s website and social media channels with the goal of enhancing fundraising efforts and amplifying programmatic initiatives.
    • Consult with the Senior Director of Health Care to ensure all health education and medical content is accurate, up-to-date, and medically reviewed.
    • Oversee the translation and adaptation of content for Spanish-speaking audiences to ensure accessibility and cultural relevance and contribute to creating Spanish-language content if bilingual proficiency allows.
    • Evaluate and utilize data analytics, audience insights, and evidence-based research to inform and refine content strategy.
    • Recruit and manage 10+ content consultants and freelancers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to maintain high standards of content quality.
    • Research and leverage AI tools for ideation and content generation to streamline the content development process and enhance efficiency in producing high-quality content.
    • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in content strategy, health education, and digital marketing.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community partners, to extend the reach and impact of content.
    • Supervise and support the development and success of additional Marketing and Communications staff including attending to all personnel related responsibilities.
