About CEA
The Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA) is dedicated to building and stewarding a global community of people who are thinking carefully about the world’s most pressing problems and taking action to solve them. Our strategic priorities include growing the effective altruism community, improving the EA brand, and diversifying EA funding sources.
Join us in building and stewarding a community dedicated to doing good. We want to help build a radically better world, which will take the best effort of many people. We want to contribute to humanity solving a range of pressing global problems — like poverty, factory farming, and existential risk — and being prepared to face the challenges of tomorrow.
About this role
In this role, you will develop and maintain our Salesforce environment and ensure that CEA teams can effectively leverage the system to amplify the impact of their programs. You will be responsible for developing customized solutions, ensuring proper testing and maintenance, and coordinating with stakeholders to deliver a user-friendly and high-performing CRM Salesforce environment.
As our relatively new Salesforce setup continues to evolve, we are looking for someone to enhance both the user experience and the data collection and management capabilities that enable us to maximize the impact and cost-effectiveness of our programs. This is a high-impact role; you would join CEA at a pivotal moment as we spin out from Effective Ventures and prepare for growth on strong foundations.

- Product Development
- Develop solutions that are efficient and customized to the needs of our users
- Ensure all functionality is adequately tested before launching
- Ensure any issues/bugs that arise post-launch are identified and resolved quickly
- Manage and enhance Salesforce Experience Cloud Sites, where we host custom-built application forms using screen flows integrated with our Salesforce org
- Stakeholder coordination
- Identify and understand user requirements for any given project
- Coordination with the current Salesforce Administrator on all Salesforce projects to have context and be able to manage support requests
- Team management
- You will take ownership over the Salesforce function, manage our relationships with external contractors, and manage 1-2 internal team members
- As we operate with a small team, this may include covering Salesforce administration and maintenance duties if needed, including:
- Handling day-to-day support requests from users
- Implementing best practices for user access & security, documentation, and setup
- Ensuring data is accurate, reliable, and up to date
- Ensuring Salesforce setup is compliant and remains actively supported with latest Salesforce releases

- Familiarity with agile methodologies and their application in Salesforce projects.
- Proficiency in Apex and SOQL, with experience in Lightning Web Components and Visualforce as nice-to-haves.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that may arise during development, testing, and post-launch.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively coordinate with stakeholders, understand user requirements, and provide clear documentation.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and compliance with best practices and Salesforce releases.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to manage support requests and coordinate on Salesforce projects.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and best practices to continuously improve the Salesforce environment and user experience.
