Work Schedule: Part-time; Monday - Friday; 8:30 am - 2:00 pm; (27.5 hrs/week)
Wage: $19.00 - $20.50/hr is the initial hiring range and is based on previous experience
About us: Sarah's Circle is a non-profit organization working to end homelessness for women in Chicago. Our programs have three overarching goals:
This position works at the Daytime Support Center which is a drop-in center open to any woman experiencing homelessness. The Center provides a safe space where women can access meals, showers, laundry, computers, and case management to help find permanent housing.
The Cook works individually in the kitchen and is responsible for providing breakfast and lunch for women at the Daytime Support Center. The number of women fluctuates each day but currently the Cook prepares around 15-20 servings for each meal.
Summary
The Cook works individually in the kitchen and is responsible for providing breakfast and lunch for women at the Daytime Support Center. The number of women served fluctuates but currently is approximately 15 - 20 per meal. The Cook plans the menus, cooks the meals, and serves clients with dignity and respect in a trauma-informed manner. The Cook oversees food ordering, delivery, and inventory to ensure efficient use of food products. The Cook also maintains cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area.
