    Description

UNITE HERE Local 355 is a labor union at the forefront fighting for workers' rights, living wages, and quality jobs in South Florida. At Local 355, we believe that “one job should be enough.” Defying standards in a hospitality industry otherwise dominated by low wages and no job protections, our members win wages and benefits that change lives and transform communities.

Organizing Interns are embedded in worker campaigns and play a crucial role in having strategic conversations and using tools to connect workers. As an organizer intern, you can be part of a team that empowers people in the hospitality industry to achieve better wages and benefits, dignity, and basic rights at work.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Vision to change South Florida that’s centered on worker power
    • Exceptional energy and motivation
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and train
    • Strong team building skills
    • Good self-organization, campaign organization skills, and can balance multiple priorities and assignments
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    • Persistent and optimistic in helping workers improve their lives
    • Second language skill is a plus

    Organizing Apprentices:

Organizing experience not required. Good candidates will be both flexible and dedicated.

This apprenticeship will train you on basic and advanced organizing skills through shadowing and close work with our staff organizers. You will learn to organize people to stand up for their rights and build worker-led committees to take on multi-national corporations.
