    Description

Project Supervisor, Immigrant Community Health Project

    Centro Comunitario CEUS

    JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Project Supervisor, Proyecto Buena Salud

    Status: Full-time, 12-month contract

    Term: Present – December 2025

    Supervisor: CEUS Executive Manager

    Location:North Bergen, NJ

Note: This position is funded until October 2025, but we will seek funds to keep the program and the position funded beyond that.

    Background:

Centro Comunitario CEUS (CEUS) is looking to hire an energetic, organized and committed supervisor to run our health program, Proyecto Buena Salud (PBS). This is an opportunity to harness your leadership skills and direct and run your own program to help the immigrant community.

A social work or healthcare background is preferred, along with an understanding of health issues facing immigrants and some knowledge of community organizing. The position involves supervising Community Health Workers (CHW) and understanding their role in identifying and addressing local public health issues.

Centro Communication CEUS created the program in February 2021, with funding from the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH). It aims to develop and implement effective health communication and community engagement strategies to reach immigrant communities. The program is funded by three separate grants, supporting two full-time CHWs and one part-time CHW who focus on understanding the needs of high-risk community members and making referrals for them to be served by local health providers.

    Summary of Principal Responsibilities:

The PBS supervisor will be responsible for directing the CEUS health project, liaising with health partners – including funding agencies – and compiling monthly reports as funders require.

The supervisor will oversee the CHWs and direct their outreach to immigrants in North Bergen, Union City, and West New York as well as other Hudson County communities. The supervisor will ensure that the CHWs work effectively and the project is administered, reported, and completed in line with grant commitments.

    Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of the Project Supervisor include the following:

    1. Supervise the day-to-day work of the CHWs while also working to ensure project goals and objectives are met.
    2. Establish outreach plans and strategies to communicate information about COVID-19 and health/social issues to migrants/seasonal workers and immigrants in Hudson County.
    3. Assist the CHWs in conducting outreach to migrant/seasonal workers and immigrant communities, as well as local churches and other organizations that serve the immigrant population.
    4. Serve as the CEUS point of contact with funding agencies.
    5. Compile monthly metrics and narrative reports as required by funders
    6. Manage and efficiently lead a team and maintain a working knowledge of evolving community needs. The supervisor should be able to deliver health information using culturally appropriate terms and concepts.
    7. Meet with CHWs individually each week and ensure that their outreach efforts are documented in CEUS databases, spreadsheets, and the online Unite US website required by funders. The supervisor will ensure that CHWs maintain contact information records for area partners and informational resources
    8. Provide support and direction to the CHWs as they set up events and consultations to learn the community’s needs and disseminate health information.
    9. Maintain financial records, invoices, receipts, timesheets, and mileage records as funders require.
    10. Ensure that an effective promotional campaign is executed to attract immigrants in the target community with flyers, social media, and brochures.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1. Supervisory experience, preferably with a non-profit or community-based organization
    2. Strong proficiency in written and oral English and oral Spanish is required.
    3. Associate or bachelor’s degree. MSW or MPH is a plus.
    4. Should have completed or be willing to undertake the Community Health Workers Training (New Jersey Department of Health Colette Lamothe Galette Institute, Impact Care, or other institutions)
    5. Public health or community organizing experience is a plus, as is a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multicultural contexts and communities.
    6. Ability to attend evening and weekend meetings, if necessary.
    7. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to prioritize assignments and workload.
    8. Comfort in decision-making, priority setting, and work delegation.
    9. Demonstrate communication ability and build mutually respectful relationships with co-workers, partners, and the public.
    10. Demonstrate familiarity with virtual meeting platforms and software applications in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and similar Google programs. Social media experience is helpful.
    11. Drivers’ license and access to car preferred; position requires some travel within New Jersey.
    12. Must be able to work legally in the United States

Compensation: $30 an hour; 37.5 hours per week.

    Work location: CEUS office

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and two references via email to CEUS Administrator Hugh Morley at hmorley@ceusnj.org.
