    Position Summary

    MEEA is seeking a Manager or Senior Manager of Stakeholder Engagement to join the Market Solutions and Education team. The Manager/Senior Manager will lead our work on stakeholder engagement, connecting with community-based organizations, businesses, industries and local governments across various projects. The Manager/Senior Manager of Stakeholder Engagement will promote the value of energy efficiency to key stakeholders; identify policy and programmatic best practices, trends and lessons learned from across the region and throughout the country and build new and foster existing relationships.

    Responsibilities

    • Primary projects involve engaging stakeholders in local communities including community-based organizations, local businesses and industries, local and state government and advocates
    • Manage a federally funded project, including workload management across the project team, strategy development and implementation, communicating with subcontractors, budgeting and grant reporting
    • Manage educational and outreach activities to increase awareness and understanding of energy efficiency
    • Advise on stakeholder engagement strategies across various departments and project
    • Facilitate stakeholder convenings such as workshops, collaborative meetings and listening sessions
    • Support outreach strategies to reach historically underinvested communities
    • Provide technical assistance to community-based organizations on a range of topics across building decarbonization
    • Develop research and advocacy materials, including white papers, blogs, fact sheets, testimony and presentations
    • Represent MEEA externally to media, stakeholders, funders and the efficiency community as a recognized industry expert
    • Support development work to grow MEEA’s work, including grant proposals and meeting with prospective funders

    Qualifications

    • The successful candidate will be expected to have the following qualifications:
    • B.A. or B.S. in public policy, energy policy, environmental science or policy, political science, communications or a related field
    • For a Manager, minimum 5 years’ experience in outreach and engagement, with knowledge of the energy industry preferred. For a Senior Manager, minimum of 7 years' experience
    • Experience working with local campaigns or community-based initiatives
    • Strong facilitation and coalition building skills amongst diverse stakeholders
    • Strong communication, presentation and writing skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
    • Proven leader able to take initiative on projects as well as work in a team environment
    • History of strong project management experience with success in meeting deadlines and the ability to adapt with shifting priorities
    • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
    • Passion for energy, with interest in energy efficiency and decarbonization

    Compensation

    The Manager of Stakeholder Engagement position starts within an annual salary range of $70,000-$80,000, a Senior Manager range is $80,000-$90,000. Compensation and title for a selected candidate will be commensurate with experience. MEEA offers a competitive employment benefits package that includes:

    This position is hybrid, with staff expected to reside in the Chicago area. Currently, MEEA staff are in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and work remotely the other three days.
