    JOB SUMMARY

    The ESC is hiring a Communications and Digital Director to lead our content creation and curation, communications outreach, and steward our digital tools. The position will direct our organizational communications strategy, including press outreach, activist engagement, and social media responsibilities. They will draft and support internal and external communications, including but not limited to the newsletter, action alerts, web applications, infographic design, email design, social media, print design, and work with the development team on fundraising appeals and materials. They will also oversee our digital platforms and maintain functionality and security. Candidate must have demonstrated experience in multimedia and graphic design and excellence in written and oral communication. They must be able to translate complex policy concepts into high-quality multimedia products. The candidate will be a creative thinker, researching and sharing best practices related to communications and activists' engagement. The areas of responsibility are below.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Compose and edit copy for alerts to members, website, and social media distribution
    • Draft and distribute press releases to national and local media outlets
    • Monitor web traffic and update the website
    • Plan and execute social media and outreach campaigns connecting with and engaging activists, member groups, and donors
    • Ensure digital platforms are secure and function well
    • Create weekly action alerts
    • Working with the development team to execute fundraising appeals
    • Respond to comments on social media and our webpage
    • Serve as the primary contact for digital partners and vendors, managing relationships, coordinating deliverables, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.

    ead discussions with IT partners and potential 3rd party vendors on improving the design, user interface, and data storage.

    Experience/Skills:

    • Writing for digital platforms
    • Experience with Action Network, EveryAction, or a similar platform is required. WordPress, Neon, Harness, experience is beneficial but not a requirement
    • Experience with members of the media and SM influencers, as well as media databases and platforms such as Meltwater
    • An understanding of the major social media platforms, including competence in creating posts and content, and ways to maximize visibility through the algorithm
    • Cybersecurity training and/or knowledge to ensure our Website and other online data is secure
