OSI’s land protection promotes clean air and water, improves access to recreation, provides wildlife habitat, strengthens communities, and combats climate change, while curbing its devastating effects. OSI has an operating budget of $59 million, of which $39 million is derived through philanthropy, and is engaged in several multi-year campaigns and initiatives to support its mission.

    Position Overview

    The Database Senior Manager is responsible for data entry, maintenance, analysis, and reporting in OSI’s CRM platform Raiser Edge (RE), as well as oversight of the general functioning of RE and additional fundraising reporting outside of the system. The position reports to and works closely with the Director of Development Operations and Events to ensure best practice and continuity across OSI’s use of RE. The Senior Manager builds reports and dashboards and recommends plans for growing and improving the use of RE to support OSI’s fundraising initiatives and events. This position implements the organization’s procedures for RE use, maintaining guidelines and providing guidance and training to the development team and other colleagues. The Senior Manager also ensures policies and procedures are followed by developing, running, or delegating maintenance queries in the system. The role is responsible for database supervision, data retrieval, report customization and analysis, policies and procedures, security, data entry, and data quality control.

    Primary/Essential Responsibilities & Duties

    Raiser’s Edge Maintenance/Oversight

    • Responsible for data hygiene and oversight of Raiser’s Edge entry procedures, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility
    • Coordinate overall constituent action and project tracking
    • Implement and update funding pipelines for projects and campaigns
    • Assess current database utilization and recommend effective policies and procedures based on best practices in the field
    • Ensure data is conforming to OSI’s RE use guidelines; update guidelines and SOPs as new processes are established
    • Build out plans for maintenance queries and business rules; serve as implementation lead and/or designate appropriate staff

    Data Processing

    • Update and maintain donor records, actions, and proposals, as needed
    • Import donor lists, identifying appropriate method (manual or global import)
    • Ensure consistency in data tracking, coding, reporting, and data modeling
    • Data entry for miscellaneous projects
    • Data cleanup as requested; monitor data cleaning needs and propose action plan

    Reporting and Analytics

    • Create and manage dashboards and analytical reports tracking metrics, progress to goals, and open/closed/overdue actions
    • Produce various lists, including mailing, invite, gift, and other initiatives
    • Create reports in Excel to analyze fundraising performance from RE data, as needed

    Training and Support

    • Support individual and institutional teams in prospect review meetings
    • Conduct basic RE trainings for staff; advise on Blackbaud University provided training
    • With the Director of Development Operations and Events, provide oversight for RE best practices, adhering to OSI’s RE guidelines and data integrity

    Other Responsibilities

    • Access Luminate Online, OSI’s donation processing platform
    • Assist with crosswalk (using Omatic) between Raiser’s Edge and Luminate Online
    • Work with finance department to ensure alignment in coding
    • Special projects as assigned

    Required Skills

    • Expertise in Raiser’s Edge NXT and Database View, with at least five years experience
    • Experience with Omatic preferred
    • Knowledge of Blackbaud University and RE’s evolving functionality
    • Intermediate MS Excel Capabilities for data manipulation and analytics outside of RE
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong listening skills
    • Outstanding attention to detail, organization, diligence, and commitment to excellence in work product
    • Ability to think critically and problem solve creatively
    • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize numerous ongoing projects
    • Highly collegial working style
    • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of privileged information
    • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative, organize and prioritize tasks, work independently, and be accountable

    Qualifications

    • Commitment to OSI’s mission, vision, and values; knowledge of conservation issues or experience fundraising in support of environmental issues a plus
    • Prior experience in fundraising/development in non-profit sector
    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

    Location & Physical Requirements

    • This position is based out of our midtown New York office
    • Hybrid work arrangement with at least two days per week in office expected weekly
    • Frequently sits for long periods of time
    • Frequently speaks, reads, writes and uses a computer keyboard
    • May require occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping, and bending

    This is a part-time position requiring 25-29 hours per week within regular business hours. The role involves working onsite at our midtown Manhattan office at least two days per week. We anticipate the schedule will be three full 7.5-hour workdays (Tuesday through Thursday), with at least two days onsite and one 6-hour workday on either Monday or Friday, which will be remote. While this schedule is preferred, we offer some flexibility within regular business hours and are open to discussing adjustments with the right candidate.

    Pay for this position is $50.00 per hour, commensurate with the candidate’s skill level and experience. The recruiting team is committed to sharing details regarding compensation based on the candidate's qualifications during the interview process.
