    Description

    The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation is seeking a motivated individual to join the Award Programs team as Programs Assistant. This position works closely with and reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and Scientific Director in the management of the award programs as well as supporting the day-to-day operations of the Award Programs Department. We are looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic, highly organized, possesses excellent communication skills, and is both a self-starter and team player.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Process scientific award applications
    • Prepare materials for annual scientific committee award selection meetings
    • Interact with applicants, awardees, and committee members via phone, email, and in person
    • Handle record-keeping for Award Programs in Bloomerang database and generate reports as needed
    • Maintain Award Programs pages on website
    • Coordinate and attend Annual Fellows’ Retreat and other scientific symposia
    • Request and process financial and progress reports for all awardees
    • Maintain statistics on applicant pools and awardee demographics
    • Track alumni
    • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum one to two years of administrative assistant or related work experience
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, and knowledge of social media outlets (Facebook, X, LinkedIn)
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    STRONGLY PREFERRED:

    • Experience with Proposal Central and Bloomerang
    • Website management, basic HTML/CSS, and Photoshop a plus

    Candidates should be able and willing to work out of a New York-based office a minimum of two days per week. They will also have the opportunity to travel on occasion to attend the Fellows’ Retreat (East/West Coast) and other events. Salary Range: $50,000-$52,000.
