Vietnam Animal Aid and Rescue-US has a small rescue shelter in Hoi An and have recently taken over a government wildlife center near Hue. We need staff to raise the funds to develop the property and add a wildlife clinic.
We are looking for an experienced nonprofit professional with experience in animal rescue/vet med, fundraising, human resource management, and experience working and living abroad. This is a full time position, but can also be a part-time position (hybrid remote or onsite) for people who not only care about animals and animal rights, but can manage a facility, staff, and the business of a nonprofit. You will have help from our director and onsite caretaking staff but need to be able to really take the reins and do so with a lot of energy for a project that can be extremely difficult and heartbreaking at times. Loving animals is important and passion is important, but running a vegan rescue requires energy, stick-to-itiveness, and courage for a passionate and organized professional. Roles and Responsibilities, varying depending on previous experience and education:
Benefits for a one year contract:
Offsite accommodations stipend of 3.5 mil VND
Motorbike rental
$750 USD per month salary paid twice monthly for part time, $1000 full time
21 days annual paid holiday, unlimited sick days
5 day work week
We are unable to pay staff health insurance unfortunately until the funds increase, but require that all employees have some type of travel or expat coverage that includes repatriation and medical evacuation.
All staff must have rabies vaccinations which can be acquired upon arrival to Vietnam.
Your ability to manage your own time and just get things done as needed is vital because this is a management job and no one is tracking your time. This is not a 9-5 job.
Please only apply if you have international work experience in developing countries. The position requires the ability to creatively solve problems with a small budget in a country lacking rule of law with low resources for animal care and public health and a barely existing regulatory infrastructure. There are many challenges that require the mentality to color outside the lines and to adapt to a situation very much unlike your own country. Without having lived abroad in this sort of situation, it would be very difficult to manage an organization within this context. This is not a position for your first time in a country like Vietnam, but for someone already accustomed to learning and adapting to new cultures in different political and economic systems.
