    Who we are looking for:

    ASCO has a new and exciting opportunity for a highly-motivated Publications Coordinator to join our dedicated team and support the editorial development of our member publications, ASCO Connection and ASCO Daily News. In this role, you’ll work closely with our publications team to coordinate content flow and assist in producing high quality content that engages and informs the oncology community.

    Remote candidates welcome or primary location in Alexandria, VA.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the creation and development of editorial content for the ASCO Connection and ASCO Daily News publications, including content solicitation, facilitating physician editor review, copyediting, and proofreading.
    • Process newly submitted content, including reviewing tables and figures and requesting permissions.
    • Build ASCO Connection and ASCO Daily News email newsletters, including coordination with internal stakeholders to schedule and review.
    • For ASCO Connection, ASCO’s bimonthly print member magazine, coordinate with internal clients on Member News, Meetings Calendar, and 1-2 additional recurring columns, including copyediting materials and facilitating client reviews and approvals.
    • Support the digital marketing strategy for ASCO Connection and ASCO Daily News, including writing and editing social media posts, creating social media graphics, and reviewing and updating homepage content for the publication websites.
    • Support content selection and review for the weekly “Cancer in the News Weekend Reads” email.
    • Monitor publication inboxes, responding to and/or forwarding editorial, advertising, and customer service inquiries.
    • Perform various administrative tasks such as filing headshots, submitting photo requests, and maintaining contributor lists.
    • Support other publishing activities across the department as needed.

    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Creative Writing or equivalent level of experience, training, and education
    • 2-3 years of program coordination and/or content development experience
    • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to work occasional weekends as needed to support ASCO meetings and symposia

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Experience with copyediting and proofreading
    • Experience with Airtable and/or Smartsheet and Canva (or other creative software)
    • Experience with email marketing tools such Adobe Campaign, Taxi, and/or Litmus

    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and multitask
    • Excellent communication skills, including written, with the ability to clearly convey and receive information
    • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
    • Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively in teams
    • Strong interpersonal skills

    ADA/Physical Requirements

    Extended periods seated or standing at a desk.

    High use of computer and other office technology equipment.

    Travel

    5-7 days a year
