    Eisner Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing culturally competent, full life-cycle medical care, prenatal care, labor and delivery, women’s health services, dental care, behavioral health care, optometry, dermatology, case management/care coordination, supplemental services (patient benefits and enrollment, outreach), and an on-site pharmacy and lab. We are the provider of choice for more than 40,000 children, adults, and older adults in Los Angeles County each year.

    Summary of Position: The Eisner Health Vice President of Development is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and advancing Eisner Health’s fundraising, grants strategy, and donor marketing, communication, and engagement efforts. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the VP will be responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive development strategy that enhances fundraising opportunities, builds relationships with major donors, and strengthens Eisner Health’s visibility in the philanthropic community. A key priority for the VP will be expanding to new donor audiences and broadening the base of philanthropic support.

    This role will oversee a team of development and marketing team members, ensuring strong engagement with existing and prospective donors, foundations, and other funders. The VP will lead efforts to cultivate major donors, structure and execute fundraising campaigns, and ensure the success of the organization’s annual gala and capital campaigns.

    The ideal candidate is a results-driven fundraiser with strong management experience, a deep understanding of Los Angeles’ philanthropic landscape, and the ability to develop and implement strategies to increase philanthropic giving at all levels.

    This role is primarily in-person, with flexibility for hybrid work.

    Core Job Responsibilities (Essential Duties):

    Fundraising & Development Strategy

    • Develop and implement fundraising campaigns, leveraging and strengthening Eisner Health's historical legacy and reputation.
    • Collaborate with the CEO and other members of the leadership team to engage donors and solicit philanthropic support.
    • Oversee the execution of Eisner Health’s signature annual fundraising event, including securing sponsorships and ticket sales.
    • Ensure strong donor stewardship and recognition programs to maintain and deepen donor relationships.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key philanthropic, corporate, and community partners.
    • Represent Eisner Health at networking events, donor meetings, and community gatherings.
    • Design and deliver presentations to secure major gifts at fundraising events, private dinners, and galas.

    Donor-Focused Communications & Engagement

    • Oversee and strengthen Eisner Health’s donor communications strategy, ensuring alignment with fundraising and engagement goals.
    • Lead and develop a marketing team that includes a Marketing Manager, Social Media Coordinator, and subcontractor graphic design group.
    • Create storytelling and content strategy to enhance donor engagement through outreach and other modalities.
    • Ensure high-quality donor-facing materials, including fundraising appeals, sponsorship packages, donor recognition materials, and campaign collateral.
    • Oversee the development of event promotion and digital fundraising campaigns to engage donors and supporters.
    • Evaluate and recommend potential changes in external marketing contractors to enhance creativity and effectiveness in donor engagement efforts.

    Grants & Institutional Funding

    • Oversee the grants management and writing team (currently two staff members).
    • Provide strategic oversight for foundation, corporate, and government grant applications.
    • Ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements and alignment with Eisner Health’s priorities.

    Team Leadership & Organizational Management

    • Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and coaching to the development and marketing team.
    • Set clear goals, performance metrics, and professional development opportunities.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

    Position Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, public relations, or a related field, or commensurate experience.
    • 10+ years of progressive experience in fundraising, donor engagement, and development strategy.
    • Proven success in major gifts fundraising, donor cultivation, and capital campaigns.
    • Experience structuring and growing a major gifts program.
    • Demonstrated success in cultivating corporate sponsorships.
    • Experience leading a development and donor communications team.
    • Strong strategic planning and execution skills.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills—able to connect with donors, board members, and community stakeholders with ease.
    • Dynamic and engaging public speaker who can confidently articulate Eisner Health’s mission, history, and impact in a compelling way.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for donor outreach and engagement.
    • Prior experience in healthcare, community-based nonprofits, or FQHCs is preferred.
    • Knowledge of Los Angeles’ philanthropic community and funding landscape is preferred.
    • Ability and willingness to travel--most would be same day, although some overnight travel may be required.
    • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as the work requires.
