    Description

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Litigating every part of a case, absent appearing in court. Candidates must be comfortable taking the lead to work up every part of a case before it goes to court, as well as prepping local attorneys for in-person hearings or trial as necessary.
    • At the outset, the staff attorney’s caseload will be comprised primarily of family law cases, and may expand to include housing, criminal defense, probate, or civil rights litigation.
    • Maintaining a full-time or part-time schedule.
    • Supervising and supporting paralegals.

    Qualifications:

    • At least five (5) years of experience independently managing a caseload with tasks including legal briefing, discovery, negotiation, and mediation.
    • A demonstrated interest in economic, social, and racial justice.
    • We value diversity. People of color, people with experience living in poverty, LGBTQIA-identifying people, women, and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
    • Attorneys must have an active license in Texas or another state.
    • Fluency in Spanish or another second language is desirable but not mandatory.
