    Description

    The School of Global Integrative Studies and the Forsythe Family Program on Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs at UNL are seeking an Assistant Professor of Practice beginning in the 2025-26 academic year. This is a non-tenure track, renewable, and promotable position.

    The primary duties for this position include teaching (0.8 teaching and teaching-related activities as part of the duties as the Director of the Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship) and service (0.2 service) in both the School of Global Integrative Studies and the Forsythe Family Program on Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs.

    The Assistant Professor of Practice will have a 3:2 teaching load, which will include GIST 211: Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation; GLST 415/815: Grant Writing and Fundraising for Social Good; and HRHA 495/895: Internship in Human Rights, as well as additional courses in social entrepreneurship and human rights.

    The Assistant Professor of Practice also will serve as the Director of the newly-launched Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship. The duties of the Director of the Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship include serving as the primary advisor for the certificate, managing admission and outreach, course scheduling, and general advising in consultation with the academic advising team. In addition, the successful candidate will actively work with the social entrepreneurship community in Lincoln and across the state and country, as well as partner with other organizations to establish working relationships for applied practicum experiences.

    Minimum Required Qualifications

    • Ph.D. or advanced professional degree (MBA, JD) in hand by August 17, 2025, in a related field, including but not limited to, Anthropology, Business, Communication Studies, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Geography, History, Languages and Literature, Law, Political Science, or Sociology, among other fields.
    • Experience in and/or a commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and should be prepared to teach courses listed above, in the description of work section.
    • Experience working with or in the nonprofit or social entrepreneurship field.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience engaging in student/community outreach.
    • Experience managing projects.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse range of students.
    • Experience mentoring students outside the classroom (e.g. as an internship supervisor, registered student organization advisor, etc.).
    • Experience building relationships across multiple constituencies.
