    Position Overview:

    Kyaninga Child Development Centre (KCDC) is a not-for-profit organisation that has revolutionised the care and promoted the rights of children with disabilities (CwDs) in Uganda over the past ten years by implementing a multisectoral, holistic approach that includes healthcare, rehabilitation, education and social inclusion.

    We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in non-profit management, finance, monitoring, and evaluation to take on the newly created position of Head of Operations. The successful applicant will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of Kyaninga Child Development Centre. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will provide leadership, financial oversight, and operational management to ensure the organisation's continued success and impact.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Organisational Leadership and Management:

    • Oversee the organisation's overall operations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of programmes and services.
    • Implement and monitor strategic plans to achieve organisational goals and objectives.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive work culture that promotes teamwork and high performance.
    • Human Resources and Team Development: oversees hires, develops and motivates staff.

    Operational Oversight and Management:

    • Provide oversight of the organisation's operational functions, including programme development, implementation, human resources, and facilities management.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
    • Monitor and evaluate programme performance, providing recommendations for improvement.

    Financial Oversight:

    • Work closely with the finance team to ensure the organisation's financial health and sustainability.
    • Review and authorise financial reports and budgets to identify trends and areas for improvement.

    Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:

    • Collaborates with the CEO and the board of directors, providing regular updates and seeking their guidance.
    • Co-create the organisation's long-term vision with the board.
    • Represent the organisation at external events and conferences.
    • Advocate for the organisation's mission and work.

    Monitoring, Evaluation, Analysis, and Learning:

    • Provide oversight of the organisation's monitoring and evaluation framework.
    • Analyse data to assess programme effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
    • Identifies and manages risks, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
    • Addresses any ethical or operational challenges.
    • Ensure that lessons learned are incorporated into future programme planning and implementation.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Master's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in management, with a strong background in finance and operations.
    • Proven track record of successful leadership and management in a complex organisation.
    • Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

    Additional Skills:

    • Experience in programme development and implementation.
    • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methodologies.
    • Strong understanding of issues related to child development and education.
