    PAIR is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit, grassroots organization, established in 2008, to bridge the gaps between the public school system and community services for Houston-area refugee youth. Partnering with local schools and community organizations, PAIR empowers refugee youth to navigate American society, reach their academic potential, and become community leaders. The organization’s staff partners with volunteer mentors to support students as they acclimatize to life and education in the United States.

    Opportunity

    PAIR is seeking a hands-on, results-driven, collaborative Executive Director (ED). The ED will be responsible for the achievement of all operational and strategic goals, including donor development, fiscal management, board relations, staff oversight, compliance, community relations and engagement and all other administrative matters. In addition, the ED will be accountable for managing the daily operations, ensuring the sustainability and growth of the organization, and guiding the delivery of impactful programs that serve the needs of refugee populations. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors (BoD), the ED will oversee an annual operating budget of approximately $1M and a team of very passionate and dedicated employees.

    Key Responsibilities

    Leadership & Strategy:

    1. Lead the organization in the development and implementation of its mission and strategic goals.
    2. Cultivate and maintain a strong, transparent, and positive relationship with the BoD, ensuring they have the information necessary to make informed decisions.
    3. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, effectively communicating the organization’s mission, values, and impact to various stakeholders, including donors, government officials, community leaders, and the media.

    1

    Fundraising and Development:

    1. Lead the fundraising strategy by identifying revenue sources and developing and overseeing fundraising campaigns and activities to support, maintain and grow PAIR’s revenue streams.
    2. Develop and manage processes for contract and grant management, performance management, and other reporting as required by funders. 3. Cultivate relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors, including preparing proposals and reports to maintain and enhance funding sources.

    Accounting and Financial Management:

    1. Oversee the organization’s financial health, including budgeting, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
    2. Develop and maintain effective systems for tracking, reporting, and analyzing the organization’s financial performance and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
    3. Develop and manage the organization’s annual budget in collaboration with the BoD and senior staff to ensure financial sustainability and alignment with strategic goals.
    4. Serve as the primary liaison with external financial partners, including bankers, accountants, and tax advisors.

    Staff Management and Development:

    1. Hire, manage, and support a diverse team of staff members.
    2. Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace.
    3. Ensure staff have the necessary resources, training, and development opportunities to succeed in their roles.
    4. Maintain a culture that attracts, retains, and motivates a diverse, top-quality staff. Instill a sense of excellence in all PAIR activities.

    Program Management:

    1. Ensure program safety for students, volunteers, and staff through process, monitoring, and collaboration with schools.
    2. Review and update program materials and goals with program managers to ensure effectiveness and update as required each semester.
    3. Maintain positive relationships with the extended community, including the family and friends of PAIR students. Ensure that PAIR’s operations and limitations are well understood in the service community.

    Communications and Outreach:

    1. Develop and implement overall communications and marketing strategy in conjunction with the BoD.
    2. Participate in community events, meetings, conferences, and other functions as PAIR’s representative and spokesperson.
    3. Direct and produce content for PAIR’s newsletters, websites, and other materials as may be published by PAIR.
    4. Identify and develop partnerships with other organizations.

    Qualifications

    1. Minimum of seven years of non-profit experience, demonstrating successive growth in leadership roles.
    2. Knowledge of, and experience directly working, with refugee and/or immigrant communities.
    3. Five years of experience managing direct reports/staff teams. 4. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with varied community groups, including donors, volunteers, and board members.
    4. Experience growing and scaling programs that serve youth; experience with out-of-school time programs is preferred.
    5. Minimum of five years of financial management experience, including financial reports analysis and contract compliance.
    6. Minimum of three years of experience in program development, including grant writing/oversight.
    7. Experience using QuickBooks and Office products.
    8. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, including HISD VIPS.
