    Description

    Accounting Manager to manage the general ledger, prepare for the

    annual internal audit, maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and support

    the Chief Financial Officer and Associate Treasurer with other projects. (Candidates with up to

    Controller level experience are encouraged to apply. The title will be commensurate with

    experience.) This position reports to the CFO.

    You will be expected to work primarily on-site in New York City Mondays through Fridays from

    9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional extra hours. You will be paid between $90,000 and $115,000

    annually, title and salary will be commensurate with skills and experience – candidates from

    Accountant to Controller level experience are encouraged to apply.

    Responsibilities & Duties

    Accounting

    • Prepare and review journal entries
    • Maintain internal controls
    • Lead monthly and annual close
    • Lead audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
    • Research accounting questions for compliance with GAAP

    Treasury

    • Help manage cash flow
    • Help prepare monthly bank reconciliations for CFO review

    Accounts Payable/Receivable

    • Review and prepare invoices for approval and payment
    • Prepare fellowship and other program payments
    • Deposit fundraising revenue
    • Periodically reconcile fundraising revenue with advancement team
    • Manage credit card bookkeeping and reconciliations

    Compliance

    • Create and maintain a compliance calendar
    • File taxes and other annual required reporting
    • Stay abreast of current regulations and implement compliance procedures as needed

    Human Resources

    • Prepare payroll
    • Assist the CFO and Associate Treasurer in managing benefits
    • File 1099s
    • Prepare Actuary Data for Pension and Retiree Health Plan valuations

    Other

    • Handle special projects as directed by the Chief Financial Officer
    • Other duties as assigned
