    Description

    The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension depending on the project funding. Employment location will be Poltava, Ukraine, with frequent travel to project locations in the country.

    Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and Alliance2015 member Concern Worldwide work in a single structure in Ukraine, under the name “Joint Emergency Response in Ukraine (JERU)” to support the population affected by the war. WHH/JERU is implementing a three year multi-sectoral BMZ funded project with the partners IRC and PIN in the regions of Sumy, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzha. As Head of Project you will be required to manage the overall coordination of the consortium while ensuring that WHH/JERU’s economic recovery and livelihoods activities are implemented to a high quality, in collaboration with three local partners.

    Your responsibilities

    • Overall responsibility for the implementation of the project in coordination with local partners and according to the workplan and budget
    • Coordination of the consortium providing regular updates to the Head of Programmes
    • Ensure donor reporting deadlines are met, both narrative and financial
    • Ensure all project related data is uploaded on WHH's internal software PROMIS and kept updated as needed
    • Coordinate closely with the Deputy Head of Project to conduct coordination meetings with WHH/JERU implementing partners to ensure effective communication and support them to deliver project activities in a timely manner
    • In collaboration with our Livelihoods Coordinator, continuously identify the economic recovery needs and opportunities in the project areas
    • Propose and implement actions to cover these needs, as well as areas of integration with emergency programming
    • Manage and recruit the project team including livelihoods officers, business counselors, trainers, and other service providers when required
    • Carry out financial management of the project, producing financial forecasts and regularly reviewing budgets against actuals
    • Ensure that a project procurement plan is in place and is implemented in coordination with the logistics department
    • Collaborate with the partnership team in the management of partnership agreements and capacity building areas for partners
    • Gather output level data and work with the MEAL team to analyze key information linked to project outputs and quality
    • Contribute to positioning WHH as a key member in economic recovery and livelihoods action with participation in coordination platforms as agreed with the Livelihoods Сoordinator
    • Meet local stakeholders including the economic development department, municipalities, business associations and others to ensure they are informed about WHH economic recovery activities
    • Actively support the Head of Programs and in-country Technical Advisors in the development of new proposals and the country strategy
    • Collaborate closely with the Technical Advisors to ensure best practices, lessons learned and challenges are documented and shared
    • Ensure protection mainstreaming in the implementation of the project

    Your profile

    • A relevant unversity or college degree in a related field
    • Experience of consortium management within an I/NGO
    • Previous experience of working in economic recovery and livelihoods programming
    • BMZ donor experience would be an asset
    • Contextual knowledge and understanding of Ukraine response would be desirable
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
    • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe's program countries
    • Excellent spoken and written English, German language skills would be an asset
