    Position: Interim Executive Director

    Salary: $70,000 - $90,000/year

    About WISDOM

    WISDOM is a statewide network, composed mainly of faith-based organizations. WISDOM began with Milwaukee Inner-City Congregations Allied for Hope's (MICAH) founding in 1988. It has now grown to 13 affiliate organizations across the state of Wisconsin from Eau Claire to Kenosha. We work on campaigns fighting for immigrant rights and to correct the narrative around formerly incarcerated individuals, and much more. Our priorities have expanded to include multi-issue work from a faith-based lens as we fight for racial, social and economic justice for all. WISDOM is a proud member of the national Gamaliel Network.

    About the job:

    WISDOM’s long-time Executive Director is retiring in 2025. The board is searching for an Interim Executive Director for approximately 6 months, to guide the organization through the transition period, strengthen the foundations of the organization, and ensure that the next permanent Executive DIrector is set up for success.

    Position Summary:

    We seek a mission-driven Interim Executive Director to lead WISDOM into its next chapter of growth and impact. This leader will oversee strategic planning, financial sustainability, program development, and community engagement while strengthening partnerships with faith communities, affiliate organizations, donors, and key stakeholders. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Interim Executive Director will work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community leaders to expand the organization’s reach and effectiveness.

    Key Responsibilities:

    The Interim Executive Director will drive WISDOM’s mission forward by developing and executing a strategic vision that aligns with our core values. They will oversee fundraising efforts, including securing grants from foundations, and private donors, providing reports to funders, while ensuring sound financial management. A central part of the role involves deepening relationships with faith communities and partner organizations.

    This role also includes leading and mentoring staff, promoting an inclusive and mission-driven work culture, and collaborating with the Board of Directors—including the Executive and Hiring Committees—to ensure strong governance and strategic direction.

    The Interim Executive Director will help the organization develop a strong set of HR processes and practices, help to further define the permanent Executive Director role and continue to strengthen the core capacities of the organization for the next transition.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    We are looking for a visionary leader with at least five years of nonprofit leadership experience, ideally in faith-based and/or coalition work. Candidates should have a proven track record in staff management and development, operations, financial management, and community engagement. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential. While no specific faith tradition is required, experience working within faith-based networks is highly preferred. The Board has set the following goals for the Interim Executive Director:

    Establish HR standards and expectations

    Create a conflict management process

    Work with affiliate liaison to restructure the role

    Evaluate other ways the organization systems, processes and culture can be strengthened
