    Position Summary:

    Reporting to the Vice President, Quality and Safety Operating Systems, the Director, Care Operating Systems (CareOS) Implementation, will plan and manage the successful delivery of projects within our new Care Operating System business line. In partnership with the VP, this role will build and expand this new line of business, driving data-driven workflows that significantly enhance patient outcomes, improve health care quality and safety, and redefine the patient and workforce experience. The Director will utilize improvement methodologies and technology platforms to optimize workflows across hospitals and health systems, leading to measurable improvements in healthcare quality and safety outcomes.

    This is a full-time remote position based in the USA, with a requirement to manage projects across multiple time zones. The role involves domestic and international travel (up to 75%), which may decrease as the CareOS business line evolves.

    Position Responsibilities:

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    30% Project Based Stakeholder Management

    • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, partners, and faculty. Serve as the primary communication link between project teams, IHI management, and stakeholders to ensure clear and consistent messaging
    • Project Communication & Reporting: Facilitate regular project meetings, both internal and external, to review progress, discuss challenges, and align on next steps. Prepare and present detailed project reports, including status updates, financial performance, and risk assessments
    • Facilitation & Coordination: Plan and coordinate project activities, including in-person meetings, teleconferences, and web seminars, ensuring that all logistical details are managed effectively

    60% Project Management

    • Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project management plans, including scope, schedule, and resource allocation, to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and desired outcomes
    • Project Execution & Monitoring: Lead the execution of project workstreams, ensuring that deliverables are met on time, within scope, and within budget. Monitor project progress, implement risk management strategies, and adjust project plans as necessary to stay on course
    • Resource & Budget Management: Develop, manage, and optimize project budgets, ensuring financial goals are met. Provide regular budgetary reports to management, highlighting any variances and proposing solutions to maintain financial health
    • Risk Management & Problem Solving: Proactively identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies. Manage complex and challenging situations with a focus on maintaining project momentum and stakeholder satisfaction

    10% COS Focused SME Content Development and Representation

    • Content Development: Help to identify and develop new opportunities for IHI content, programs, or products.
    • Represent IHI: Act as a spokesperson and representative for the project/program; present at meetings, external visits, and IHI conferences

    Position Qualifications:

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
    • Seven to ten years previous work experience in a professional environment
      • Three to five years of prior project management experience, including large-scale, complex projects in a clinical setting or similar
      • Experience with or knowledge of:
        • Health care and health systems
        • Health care technology and informatics (AI, EHR/EMR, etc.) and implementation
    • Completed or in process, Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification
    • Professional fluency in English
    • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Ability and interest to travel domestically and internationally

    Preferred

    • Lean Six Sigma green belt certification
    • Familiarity with IHI improvement methods and implementation science
    • Professional fluency in multiple languages

    Physical Attributes:

    • Ability to Sit for Extended Periods: Capability to work at a desk for long durations
    • Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using a computer, including typing, mouse handling, and other office equipment
    • Visual Acuity: Ability to read and view a computer screen for extended periods
    • Hearing and Speaking: Clear communication over phone and video calls
    • Environment Setup: Access to a quiet, professional home office setup conducive to focused work and virtual meetings
    • Lifting: Occasionally requires lifting up to 25 lbs as needed
