As we embark on the next chapter, focused on expanding our reach and deepening impact, we seek to develop a diversified Revenue Function across philanthropic giving, corporate partnerships, state and federal grants, fee-for-service programs and additional funding streams. The Chief Revenue Officer will have primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to grow a highly diversified $60M budget in alignment with the strategic goals and ambitious vision of Operation HOPE.

    General Description of Duties and Responsibilities

    Reporting to the President & CFO, the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the organization’s full spectrum of revenue-generating operations. The CRO will build, grow, and manage a high-performing team of 5-7 direct reports responsible for each revenue stream: philanthropy, corporate partnerships, government grants, development operations and fee-for-service programs. This role will focus on both the maintenance and sustainable growth of each revenue pillar, ensuring alignment with the organization’s overall mission, goals, and strategic vision.

    The ideal candidate will be an innovative leader with proven success in driving revenue growth, building and leading cross-functional teams, and fostering a culture of collaboration across departments. This position requires a deep understanding of nonprofit revenue strategies, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to driving long-term financial sustainability for a growing nonprofit.

    ​​​Key Responsibilities:

    • Strategic Revenue Leadership:
      • Develop and implement a comprehensive revenue strategy to support the organization’s growth, ensuring alignment with mission, goals, and organizational priorities.
      • Oversee the entire revenue portfolio, ensuring that each revenue stream (philanthropy, corporate partnerships, government grants, event sponsorships, fee-for-service) is optimized and positioned for sustainable growth.
      • Build strong partnerships with the executive team, board of directors, and key stakeholders to ensure a collaborative, results-driven approach to revenue generation.
      • Establish efficient processes to ensure data management, tracking and hygiene, productive communications between revenue leadership team and effective moves management to close principal gifts and large partnership deals.
    • Team Leadership and Development:
      • Build, lead, and manage a high-performing team of 5-7 direct reports responsible for each revenue stream, providing mentorship, professional development, and performance management.
      • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the revenue team.
      • Set clear performance metrics and goals for each revenue pillar and ensure regular progress tracking.
    • Revenue Growth and Diversification:
      • Lead efforts to identify new and innovative revenue streams to support long-term sustainability.
      • Work closely with the team to cultivate relationships with individual and institutional donors, corporate sponsors, and government funders to ensure both short-term success and long-term partnership sustainability.
      • Identify and pursue new business opportunities that align with Operation HOPE’s mission and capacity for growth.
    • Philanthropy & Donor Stewardship:
      • Provide strategic leadership for principal and major giving, annual giving, and donor cultivation and stewardship.
      • Develop and implement strategies for donor acquisition, retention, and engagement.
      • Ensure strong alignment between fundraising goals and overall organizational strategy.
    • Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorships:
      • Work closely with the President, Partnerships to oversee corporate partnership strategy, including identifying, cultivating, and securing new corporate sponsors and partners.
      • Develop and continually refine partnership packages that align corporate partner goals with Operation HOPE’s mission.
      • Ensure a focus on long-term relationships that maximize both financial and strategic impact for the organization.
    • Government Grants & Compliance:
      • Lead efforts to secure government grants at the federal, state, and local levels, maintaining compliance and ensuring timely reporting.
      • Manage the grant pipeline, overseeing the development and submission of proposals, and maintaining relationships with key government stakeholders.
    • ​​​Fee-for-Service and Social Enterprise Programs:
      • Collaborate internally to identify future products and services based on community needs and organizational objectives.
      • Develop business models for new programs, ensuring they are financially sustainable and aligned with mission objectives.
    • Financial Oversight & Reporting:
      • Work closely with the finance team to develop revenue forecasts, budgets, and strategic financial plans.
      • Monitor and evaluate revenue performance against goals, providing regular updates to the Founder & CEO, President and Board of Directors.
      • Ensure financial sustainability through sound management of revenue streams, investments, and cost-control strategies.
    • External Relations and Advocacy:
      • Representing the organization at key external meetings, events, and conferences to raise the nonprofit’s profile, attract new partners, and engage with stakeholders.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Minimum of 15 years of experience in revenue generation, nonprofit fundraising, or related fields, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role with a national organization
    • Proven track record of success in leading multi-faceted revenue teams across diverse revenue streams
    • Experience building and leading high-performing teams, with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and driving results.
    • Exceptional strategic thinking, business acumen, and the ability to drive results in a complex, evolving environment.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders.
    • Expertise in fundraising, corporate partnerships, and government relations, with a deep understanding of nonprofit financial models.
    • Ability to navigate complex and multi-stakeholder environments, while maintaining a focus on organizational goals.

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, or a related field required; advanced degree strongly preferred.
