    About Us

    The Torture Abolition and Survivors Support Coalition (TASSC) is a torture survivor-led organization working towards a torture-free world by providing legal, social, and health services for survivors awaiting asylum hearings and building community amongst survivors themselves.

    TASSCC’s development operations have be mainly volunteer-led and we are now seeking an entrepreneurial, organized, and creative professional to expand fundraising programs.

    A Successful Candidate:

    • Has experience working with individual donors, crafting email campaigns, managing donation data, and following-up with proper acknowledgements;
    • Is comfortable with creating, analyzing, and executing program budgets;
    • Is a self-directed team player with a direct, honest, and respectful approach to problem solving;
    • Has experience working with grants, drafting and submitting interim and annual reports, tracking program metrics, and building rapport with program officers;
    • Thrives when working under deadlines, has strong time management and project prioritization skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without sacrificing attention to detail.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    The Development Associate is responsible for stewarding and expanding TASSC’s annual fund and maintaining and improving development operations. The Development Associate will report to the Executive Director while working closely with program staff to set goals, execute grant deliverables, and design and implement an annual fundraising plan. One of the major goals for this role will be to diversify TASSC’s revenue sources, including applying for new grant funding, hosting fundraising events, and building on our existing individual donor tactics.

    Development Operations

    • Oversee and handle database gift and donor information entry, acknowledgement letters process, and reconciliation process between finance and development.
    • Develop and maintain performance reports and dashboards for annual giving.
    • Ensure accuracy of donor records in Bloomerang database, including assisting in maintaining research, rating, and tracking for prospects.
    • Oversee the maintenance of relevant and timely information/notes in the donor database and conduct prospect research to be used in the development of fundraising strategies and moves management.
    • Coordinate development research activities.
    • Manage the pledge reminder and acknowledgement process.
    • Manage the drafting and oversee the development of grant proposals including deadlines for submission, follow-up, and reporting guidelines.

    Annual Giving

    • Implement the tactics outlined in TASSC’s development plan to reach annual revenue goals and build toward the long-term sustainability of the organization securing financial support from individuals, corporations and foundations.
    • Manage and largely execute all annual giving cultivation and solicitation activities including direct mail, acquisition efforts, and digital campaigns.
    • Manage and implement the stewardship program for TASSC’s individual donors.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to track grants and reporting requirements
    • Partner with program staff to produce materials/collateral for donors.
    • Support coordination of fundraising events for donors and prospects throughout the year.
    • Support the Executive Director and Board in their fundraising efforts.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 2-3 years prior fundraising experience with a proven track record of success in donor cultivation including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
    • Strong communication (speaking and writing), interpersonal, organizational, language and computer skills.
    • Effective people and process management experience in a team oriented, entrepreneurial environment.
    • Excellent project management, strategic thinking, and planning skills.
    • Availability for occasional evening and weekend work when necessary.
    • Familiarity with Bloomerang and/or Instrumntl preferred.

    Compensation

    TASSC offers our employees a total compensation philosophy, pairing a compensation package that reflects our organizational values, culture, and mission with meaningful and significant work content, a supportive environment, and work-life balance.

    The salary range for this position is $50,000-$55,000 plus opportunities for semi-annual performance bonuses.

    TASSC’s compensation package also includes comprehensive, 100% paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, 15 days of paid time off, 12 personal/sick days, 10 federal holidays and winter break between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and flexible work hours within a 36-hour work week. Offices located in Washington, DC and Silver Spring, MD. The ideal candidate is available to be in the office two days a week. Remote applications will be considered.
