    Executive Director

    Position Summary

    The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of Anthony Wayne Theater, a non-profit organization. The Executive Director will create innovative ways for Anthony Wayne Theater to achieve its long-term vision of providing entertainment, promoting visual literacy, creating cross-cultural awareness, and promoting filmmaking as an art form in the town of Wayne and the surrounding area. Reporting to and collaborating with the Anthony Wayne Theater Board of Directors, the Executive Director supervises all aspects of programming, development, marketing, communications, human resources, and financial planning.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Fundraising and Revenue Generation

    • Oversee all fundraising activities, including cultivation initiatives and events (such as Oktoberfest) and serve as an ambassador for Anthony Wayne Theater.
    • In conjunction with the Board of Directors, advance and implement funding development strategies to achieve a sustainable financial position.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with donors.
    • Identify, solicit, and secure funding from businesses, corporate, and private sponsors.
    • Identify and secure grant funding.

    Strategic Vision and Leadership

    • Lead the development of organizational plans, financial plans, and programming.
    • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to refine and implement the institution’s strategic plan to achieve the organization’s mission and vision and meet annual goals and priorities.
    • Develop reports, attend Board meetings, and act as a professional advisor to the Board of Directors on all aspects of the organization’s operations in order to fulfill its policy, fiduciary, and decision-making responsibilities.
    • Facilitate effective communication among the Board of Directors, cinema staff, and committees.
    • Attend and lead major committee meetings (e.g., Oktoberfest, International Film Festival).
    • Act as spokesperson for the cinema and regularly attend films and events.
    • Oversee and implement human resources policies, procedures, and practices, including the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervising of cinema staff.
    • Establish a positive, healthy, and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation, statutes, and regulations.

    Financial and Operational Management

    • Oversee sound financial practices of the organization, including but not limited to monthly bills, payments to film studios, contract workers, and taxes.
    • Responsible for basic bookkeeping and Quickbooks management.
    • In coordination with the Board of Directors and Board Treasurer, continuously monitor budget to ensure organizational and business spending are within budget.
    • Responsible for the coordination, updates, and data management of organization’s website, ticketing software, and donor software.

    Relationship Building and Community Engagement

    • Establish and maintain strong ties with the local and regional community, industry decision makers, educators, and the arts community at-large to ensure Anthony Wayne Theater continues to play a key role in connecting stakeholders to the cinema’s vision.
    • Maintain organization’s social media, newsletter and community outreach, creating engaging content and announcements for film screenings, special events, and general information.
    • Serve as the organization’s ambassador and spokesperson during major community events and festivals, interacting with and educating community members about the cinema’s mission, history, and events.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Experience in operational management and event coordination.
    • Grant writing experience.
    • At least 2 years of leadership experience, including the supervision of others.
    • Experience in fundraising, including a successful track record of engagement with donors.
    • Expertise in program and organizational development, finance, and team-building. Frequent night and weekend work required.
    • Superior written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and emotional intelligence skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Working knowledge of the cinema industry.
    • Experience with Google Suite.
    • Working knowledge of QuickBooks.
    • Experience with social media management and Canva graphic design.

    Compensation

    • $80,000 – $95,000
    • PTO
