    Description

    Abraham Joshua Heschel School seeks to hire a Communications Associate to join our Advancement Office. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Community Engagement, the Communications Associate will help amplify the school’s mission, vision, and programs. Focusing on the school’s visual brand and mission-aligned storytelling, the Communications Associate will also work to communicate essential operational and logistical information.

    This is a full-time, 12-month, in-person staff position.

    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Design, Photography, and Videography
      • Design basic flyers, invitations and other collateral materials as directed by the Director of Communications and Alumni Engagement.
      • Assist with shooting, editing, producing, and managing storage and retrieval of photo and video content that captures school life.
      • Manage photography and videography equipment inventory and team needs.
    • Digital Communications
      • Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Alumni Engagement to create weekly school newsletters.
      • Manage database of each constituency group to allow for more streamlined communications.
    • Social Media Strategies
      • Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Alumni Engagement to coordinate and strategize social media campaigns.
      • Proactively collect stories, photographs, and videos for potential use on social media, the Heschel website, or in marketing materials.
        • Capture video and photos of daily life of the school/activities for general use (slideshows, videos, newsletters) and especially for class, grade, division collateral.
        • Draft written content for social media posts, marketing materials, newsletter, and website content.
      • Regularly monitor peer school’s social media feeds on behalf of the Communications Office.
    • Digital Asset Management
      • Edit, organize, and maintain the school's database of photo and video assets.
      • Scan and archive media as needed.
      • Assist with website audits, edits, and uploads.
    • Event Support
      • Attend, support, and photograph occasional evening or weekend events including sporting events.
      • Assist with setup, planning and execution of events both during the school day as well as occasional evenings.
    • Alumni Engagement
      • Help develop and implement a communication strategy through email newsletters and social media to keep alumni informed about school news and events.
      • Conduct targeted outreach campaigns to engage specific alumni segments.

    Skills and Qualifications

    The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of outstanding attention to detail;

    exceptional organizational and time management abilities; a strong work ethic; excellent verbal

    and visual communication skills; experience in copywriting and editing; working knowledge of Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc), Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere), iMovie; and professional experience, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting. Familiarity with Squarespace and Veracross strongly preferred.

    The salary range for this position is $60,000-65,000
