    Position Summary:

    We are seeking a dynamic individual to provide full-time operations support to the Private Events team at Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital, a vibrant home for culture, education and city life on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, energetic, flexible and creative. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are imperative. This is an entry level position.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Work with Private Events Manager to execute private rentals and Hill Center branded programming, as needed.
    • Execute tasks in WordPress, facility management software and CRM software.
    • Provide A/V and customer service support: hook computers to projectors, plugging in microphones, setting up Zoom conferencing, streaming events on Facebook live or other platforms.
    • Create and execute event rental contracts and invoices in HoneyBook.
    • Staff the Reception Desk as needed.
    • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies required for private events.
    • Draft floor plans for private events.
    • Conduct facility walk throughs with prospective clients, caterers and vendors.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
    • Relevant work experience, including internships. Catering or Food and Beverage experience a plus.
    • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills suitable to creating and maintaining a positive impression of the Center as an ideal location for private events and public program offerings.
    • Ability to oversee and coordinate events and program activities with limited supervision.
    • Ability to make independent, cost-effective judgment calls which ensure a positive experience for Hill Center patrons.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, email marketing platforms, Google Drive, and website content management systems. Experience with MailChimp and WordPress (or comparable programs) highly preferred.
    • Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced environment.
    • A self-motivated team player with organizational/logistics experience. Excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills required.
    • Must be able to work full time onsite, including flexible days and times that may involve evening and/or weekend work.
    • Flexibility to pivot as events change.
    • PLEASE NOTE: Applicant must be qualified to obtain a Beverage Manager’s License (be at least 21+ years old).
