    Community Outreach Coordinator Job Description:

    Full-time: $25-30 Hourly w. Health Insurance

    We are searching for a talented and professional Community Outreach Coordinators (OCs) to implement grass-roots organizing activities in renter communities. OCs will represent the Renters Alliance and work with the management team to develop and implement initiatives that increase the Renters’ Alliance visibility and initiate organizing strategies within Montgomery County apartment complexes, in key meetings with diverse groups and individuals and at public events. OCs will work directly with renters to educate them about their rights and responsibilities, resolve disputes between landlords and tenants and guide renters to available resources.

    OCs need to be self-motivated, enthusiastic and community-driven to take on this exciting role. This position requires someone equipped with a positive attitude and readiness to be a team player and a good sense of humor. Ideal candidates will have experience working in diverse communities, be resourceful, discreet and possess good judgement. Knowledge of current rental housing issues, law and polices preferred, but not initially required.

    Responsibilities:

      • Maintain and monitor a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances and other communication opportunities.
      • Nurture new and old relationships with Alliance partners.
      • Schedule regular outreach exhibitions in the community.
      • Prepare accurate records and reports on activities, including database management.
      • Develop relationship with volunteers and oversee volunteer support.
      • Counsel and advise renters on their rights and available public and private resources
      • Assist in the organization of special events, including donor/volunteer appreciation events and other fundraising initiatives.
      • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements and Preferred Experience:

      • Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in social science, communications, marketing, business or related fields, and/or
      • Experience of 3-5 years within community outreach activities.
      • Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
      • Experience preparing reports and knowledge of computer software including Excel and MS Word.
      • Strong knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.
      • Friendly, enthusiastic and positive attitude and an ability to work with diverse communities.
      • Detail-orientated with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
      • Ability to conduct research
      • Ability to maintain and protect confidential information
      • Fluency in English required, Spanish, French, Amharic, or Asian language competency preferred
