    Poughkeepsie Farm Project (PFP) is a farm-based non-profit organization committed to cultivating a just and sustainable food system in the Mid-Hudson Valley. On our member-supported farm in the City of Poughkeepsie, we grow fresh vegetables and fruit for our CSA, train future farmers, provide hands-on educational programs, and improve access to healthy locally-grown food. Our mission is to cultivate local leadership in sustainable farming, food access and education, and foster an inclusive, welcoming community for everyone.

    Organizational Structural Overview

    PFP utilizes a Shared Leadership structure rather than a traditional hierarchical organizational chart. The organization is led by a team of Co-Executive Directors. Staff are organized in “Circles” (similar to teams) which convene staff to focus on specific areas of work.

    Position Overview:

    The Education and Food Access Coordinator leads farm-based and community education programs, promoting hands-on learning in food cultivation, culinary arts, and food justice. This role oversees Farm to School initiatives, public workshops, community outreach, and food access efforts, ensuring culturally relevant programming that fosters inclusivity and equity. Responsibilities include program planning, curriculum development, and strengthening partnerships with schools, community organizations, and volunteers.

    Supervisor: Co-Executive Director of Educational Programs

    Supervisees: peer-to-peer accountability between Education Coordinators of Herbal Garden and Food Access, direct supervision of youth of all ages, adult participants, volunteers and college interns

    Circle Stewardship: participates in a minimum of 3 circles

    Circle Participation:

    General Circle, Monthly All Hands on the Land, and Racial Affinity Space (4 hours per month) Program / Ed General Circle (6 hours per month) Educational Programs Circle

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead Farm to School programs, including farm field trips, cafeteria taste tests, school garden visits, and professional development for school nutrition staff.
    • Develop and facilitate educational workshops on farming, nutrition, culinary arts, and food justice for youth and adults.
    • Manage food access initiatives, including coordinating community food distributions and donations.
    • Maintain relationships with school administrators, community organizations, and stakeholders to enhance engagement.
    • Supervise education and food access coordinators, interns, and volunteers.
    • Ensure compliance with school district policies and organizational guidelines.
    • Track program expenses, maintain records, and contribute to grant reporting.
    • Contribute to outreach, communications, and curriculum development to support public education and community engagement.

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of experience in education, food justice, community outreach, or related fields.
    • Strong classroom management, program management, curriculum development, and leadership skills.
    • Experience working with diverse communities, particularly communities of color.
    • Ability to self-organize, collaborate, and manage multiple projects.
    • Fluency in Google Suite
    • Spanish language skills are strongly preferred.
    • Commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusive education.

    Compensation & Schedule:

    • Full-time (35-40 hours/week)
    • Starting hourly rate: $22/hour.
