    Description

    Social Good Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to create and establish positive influences for individuals, communities, and the environment. Social Good Place is our community space and charity incubation hub located in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Portland, Oregon.

    Social Good Place serves as a collaborative workspace for community members seeking to create and grow charitable and social enterprise initiatives. Additionally, the building is available for the community to gather and host events, such as meetings, speaking engagements, celebrations, and weddings. Because of the nature of the work, the Events and Marketing Specialist must have flexibility/availability on occasional nights and weekends. The weekly schedule will be determined by event support staffing needs.

    The Events and Marketing Specialist role supports the Director of Operations in managing and staffing the events program, while also driving exposure and revenue through local outreach and multi-channel marketing campaigns. This role also supports day-to-day operations and maintenance of the space, while driving recruitment and retention of members through community outreach and events programming. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations, and serves as the primary liaison for people inquiring about the space or visiting the building.

    What you’ll be doing:

    Marketing:

    • Design and implement advertising campaigns, including digital content and print assets
    • Build relationships and attend meetings with local businesses, programs, schools and community members to increase exposure and awareness of our offerings
    • Advertise on relevant websites, forums and directories
    • Manage email marketing and newsletter campaigns, including management of subscriber lists and analyzing performance metrics
    • Increase event bookings by developing and implementing sales strategies
    • Maximize membership enrollment through outreach, sales, and tours

    Event Support:

    • Respond to all rental inquiries
    • Execute leases and space-use agreements in accordance with company policy
    • Assist with execution of events including setup, event support, and clean-up
    • Grow relationships with vendors, partners, and SGP members through effective hospitality management skills
    • Manage inventory of supplies for operations and events, coordinate deliveries, and manage event vendors
    • Help conceptualize, plan, and execute creative and inclusive community and member programming events to increase member engagement
    • Manage external and internal event calendars

    Community Support:

    • Procure coffee and snack options, and restock office supplies for member use
    • Maintain common areas to provide a beautiful, clean, welcoming environment
    • Support Director of Operations in day-to-day facilities maintenance and operations tasks
    • Learn and utilize software platform used for members accounts, event bookings, billing, CRM and more
    • Other duties as assigned

    Preferred Qualifications:

    The best candidate for this position will have at least two years of related experience and be both knowledgeable and reliable. The best candidate must also:

    • Be able to manage multiple priorities with varying deadlines
    • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Be comfortable engaging with groups of people
    • Have experience in community outreach
    • Have the ability to effectively and respectfully work, communicate, and collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds and vulnerable populations
    • Be able to work weekends and evenings
    • Must be a team player, flexible, with strong creative problem-solving skills

    Social Equity:

    Social Good Place is not a fully independently accessible space. Several rooms require navigating stairs. There is not an elevator to the 2nd floor. This position requires occasional moving of furniture and heavy items up to 50lbs.
