In our Portland office, we’re working to get plastic out of our environment by expanding the state’s ban on plastic bags. Nothing we use for a few minutes should threaten our health and pollute our environment for hundreds of years—especially when it’s “stuff” we don’t need. We know well-designed plastic bag laws work and are effective at reducing plastic pollution but Oregon’s current ban is full of loopholes. So, we are working with Environment Oregon to convince elected officials to update the state’s current plastic bag ban to prevent plastic film bags from being provided at grocery stores, retail stores, and restaurants
