    25 hours per week, on-site at AAANY office. Some weekends and evenings may be required.

    Description

    The Communications Manager is responsible for the management of AAANY’s social media channels, website, and outward communications. They are expected to attend AAANY events to take photographs and video for social media and fundraising materials, develop high-quality flyers for programs and events, and field inquiries through our social media and public email.

    Digital & Online communications:

    Develop and drive digital and online communications strategy to further AAANY’s mission and key events, including:

    • Manage and grow AAANY’s social media accounts, including: produce and curate daily content (audio, graphic, video, etc.); cultivate and engage online audiences, draft and manage website content, draft and manage e-communications and liaise with online vendors.
    • Coordinate with AAANY’s social media partners, including: develop and organize specific social network projects and fundraising campaigns that advance organizational goals; develop sample content for use/adaptation by members/partners.
    • Conduct regular analysis and reporting of metrics to assess impact and inform digital/online communications strategy.
    • Manage website, online properties and e-communications, including: draft and manage calendar of website postings; manage website design upgrades and changes; draft content and manage calendar of regular and timely e-communications and relevant postings.

    Traditional & Grassroots media – Collaborate with AAANY departments to support implementation of AAANY’s traditional and grassroots media work, including:

    • Work with program staff and AAANY leadership to coordinate media outreach and responses to media requests; create and share daily & occasion-specific listing of relevant media clips; coordinate relevant training opportunities for staff and clients; write and distribute press releases; and coordinate communication with relevant internal committees.
    • Coordinate materials/media production and distribution. Work with relevant staff, members and others to manage development, production, distribution, and inventory of print and online materials (e.g. infographics, fact sheets, flyers, press releases & statements) and multimedia content for fundraising and advocacy campaigns.
    • Attend AAANY community and advocacy events to take pictures and video for use in promotional materials.

    Other Responsibilities Other responsibilities, as assigned, including but not limited to: participation in staff meetings, etc.

    Minimum qualifications:

    • 1-2 years of experience in communications, marketing, public and professional writing, or a similar environment
    • Proven copywriting skills and the ability to tailor content for audience and venue
    • Thorough knowledge of social media best practices and techniques to maximize engagement
    • General knowledge of NYC non-profit landscape in immigrant services

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Familiarity with web and social media analytics, targeted advertising, and graphic design
    • Arabic fluency and literacy a plus
    • Familiarity with NYC political landscape a plus
