    Summary

    Piedmont Environmental Alliance (PEA) is seeking an effective communicator and project leader who can help make our local economy more just, resilient, and sustainable.

    You will help our community make the most of Federal legislation and funding to grow our Green Business Network, open new green career pathways for area students and professionals, and scale climate solutions across North Carolina’s Triad region. Through research, event planning, and community outreach, you will collaborate with a growing team that is at the forefront of our community’s green economic transition. We need a passionate relationship builder who is adept at translating complex policy into everyday language.

    In this newly created position, our Green Economy Program Coordinator will directly support PEA’s Inflation Reduction Act Technical Assistance and our Triad Green Jobs Center programming.

    This is a Winston-Salem, NC based position that is hybrid-flexible.

Based in Winston-Salem, NC, PEA’s innovative education programs, annual events, and community-based advocacy projects engage thousands of volunteers, students, faith communities, businesses, and partner organizations in climate and environmental action.     What You'll Do

    • Identify and recruit local businesses and nonprofits into PEA’s Green Business Network.
    • Plan and execute an annual Green Career Expo, and support related workshops, webinars, and socials.
    • Manage PEA’s bi-monthly green economy newsletter, The Green Way.
    • Maintain the Triad Green Jobs Center web pages, including a new Green Jobs Directory.
    • Create and maintain relationships with local green economy leaders, including private sector employers and area colleges and universities.
    • Track green economic growth activities and projects from across the state and country, using those insights to support the production of related blogs, memos, and white papers.
    • Represent PEA within various stakeholder groups and coalitions.

    What You’ll Bring, and Desired Qualifications

    A successful candidate will have a strong track record as an effective communicator and relationship builder. We also are looking for someone with a deep interest in sustainability, local climate solutions, and environmental justice.

    • Subject-matter knowledge and passion for climate policy, workforce development, and/or environmental justice.
    • Stellar written and verbal communication skills for connecting with diverse audiences.
    • Experience and enthusiasm for planning events.
    • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience.
    • A history of relationship building, via professional experiences or as a volunteer
    • 5+ years of experience working in a team environment related to sustainability, policy, and/or communications (graduate studies may count towards years of experience).
    • Excellent references demonstrating your record as a researcher, communicator, and/or team-builder.

    Benefits

    Benefits include a monthly wellness stipend and paid time off. PEA offers some flexibility on working location, with an expectation that at least half of working hours take place in our Winston-Salem based office.
