    Planning and Operations Associate

    Hudson Yards Hell's Kitchen Alliance (HYHK)

    The Hudson Yards Hell’s Kitchen Alliance (HYHK), a Business Improvement District (BID), is seeking a Planning and Operations Associate to join our fast growing organization in one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in New York City. With a $4.3M budget, HYHK provides supplemental sanitation, beautification, and marketing services to Hudson Yards and a portion of Hell’s Kitchen. Unlike most other BIDs, HYHK also has complete maintenance and operations responsibilities for Bella Abzug Park, a 2-acre public space surrounding the Hudson Yards 7 train station.

    Under the direction of the Executive Director/President the Planning and Operations Associate will:

    Planning and Development:

    • Monitor, survey, measure, and photograph public space project areas.
    • Help create presentations for the Board of Directors, Community Board, etc.
    • Provide support during project installations.
    • Manage and support grant applications, requirements and fulfillment
    • Support in procurement for public space amenities

    Programming and Marketing:

    • Assist with public programs at Bella Abzug Park and other locations.
    • Perform outreach to businesses, residents, park users, tourists, etc.
    • Routinely (~once per month) inspect all public art installations and report back.
    • Support district marketing initiatives and public art programs.

    Field Operations:

    • Routinely (~once per week) walk the entire district and report on issues.
    • Assist with special projects.
    • Support tracking of street furniture maintenance as needed (garbage containers)

    Preferred Education, Experience and Certifications:

    Bachelor’s Degree or 3+ years relevant experience required; master's degree in public administration, public policy, or planning preferred.

    Qualifications:

    • Must be physically present, not a remote position.
    • Must be physically capable of working outdoors in all weather.
    • Must be physically capable of carrying 30lbs.
    • Must have a flexible schedule, as some events are in the evening or on weekends.
    • Must be capable of collaborating as a productive and thoughtful member of a team, while also being able to implement certain responsibilities in a largely independent manner.
    • Must have the ability to handle a myriad of tasks, large and small, as required of a small organization.
