    Organization Overview

    The Harvard Business School Club of New York (the “Club”) is a unique and powerful association connecting the leadership and management expertise of Harvard Business School (HBS) alumni with the vital, creative, and dynamic community of Greater New York City. The mission of the Club is to Make a Difference and Support Harvard Business School by Engaging Alumni, Impacting Community, Fostering Leadership and Lifelong Learning.

    The Club is a nonprofit organization that is governed by a Board of Directors composed of HBS alumni. The various activities of the Club serve 13,000 HBS alumni in the New York City region with the support of alumni volunteers in divisions ranging from programming to pro bono consulting to angel investing. The Club produces 60+ events annually of which half are virtual.

    Job Description

    The Digital Marketing and Membership Associate is an integral part of the staff team that supports the HBS alumni. This part-time position creates materials for Club events, content for the website (hbscny.org) and social media for the Club. The Associate reports to the Chief of Staff and works closely with the Program Manager for Events. The position is hybrid with the expectation that the Associate will attend events and staff meetings in person as needed.

    Tasks & Roles

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Understand and embrace HBS Club of New York brand, audience and programs
    • Draft posts on social media accounts such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and X
    • Organize monthly calendar of content and execute weekly posts using a mix of social media management techniques
    • Design marketing materials and email communications to promote Club membership, alumni engagement and Club programs
    • Attend and assist as member of team with in-person programming and Club-wide events
    • Capture and edit photos and video via phone and camera
    • Create monthly report of impressions, followers, and platform engagement through Google Analytics
    • Update and edit the Club website as needed
    • Adhere to branding protocols set by Harvard Business School
    • Serve as liaison to the Club’s Marketing and Membership Committee
    • Work collaboratively with Club staff and alumni volunteering in various divisions

    Skills Required

    • Self-starter with excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Efficient and detail oriented
    • Creative thinker and team player
    • Proficient in MS Office (e.g., Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Dropbox/Google Drive, Zoom
    • Familiarity with web and graphic design platforms: MailChimp, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Vimeo, Google Analytics
    • Comfortable with social media design tools and scheduling platforms: Hootsuite
    • Familiarity with databases and CRM systems; Airtable experience preferred

    Education

    Bachelor’s or associate degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing or Design

    Experience

    • 2+ years of social media experience to build brand awareness
    • Project and campaign management from inception to execution
    • Demonstrated effectiveness at administrative and creative support, graphic design and digital marketing
    • Experience working with committees and managing weekly tasks
    • Proactive and positive customer service or membership engagement experience
    • References and visual examples of prior work will be checked

    Time and Compensation

    • This is a 20-hour per week, non-exempt paid position working during business hours Monday through Friday with occasional attendance at evening events
    • Compensation is $30-$35 per hour depending upon experience
    • Flexibility in work hours (outside of events) is available
    • Accrued sick and bereavement leave available
    • Opportunity to participate in Club retirement plan with 3% employer match
    • Commences in January 2025
